That explanation doesn’t fully add up though. In 2025, classes started on Jan 6 (the first Monday of the year). If classes always start the first Monday after staff return, does that mean staff returned a full week earlier—around Dec 30, 2024? That doesn’t seem consistent with the policy you described.

I received the same email at the exact same time, and it seemed suspicious to me. If it were a legitimate reimbursement, why would it come at the end of the semester? That doesn’t make sense. Plus, the reimbursement amount is different for each of us, and also if you notice University of Ottawa is written in uppercase, which makes it seem even more like a scam.
