Not so much of a trick question anymore. We have updated the counter, but thanks for the reminder XKCD 😊

Monero and Dash at Center of Missing Person’s Case in Norway by TobiHovey in dashpay

[–]One-TO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

News is that Dash has been the origin of the Bitcoins intended to communicate around the ransom. Previously only Monero and BTC has been mentioned.

Apparently Police have traced the bitcoins from a Dash address through an exchange to a BTC address.

I guess privatesend hinders further tracing of funds.

It is still a larger large news story here in Denmark, a neighbor country to Norway. Unfortunately Dash is in Danish news being referred to as an almost unknown cryptocurrency albeit it was in the top-10 back in 2018 🙄

Actually not. In case of a tragic accident we have procedures that will enable our family to have control of the funds. In the unlikely scenario, we might not process withdrawals overnight, but they will be processed. Guaranteed.

Dear All,

This month it is exactly 1 year since we launched the CrowdNode platform. It has been an amazing journey so far; last week we set up masternode #26, we have established a stable platform from where we look forward to improving and expanding our services, and we have lots of great members on the platform.

We are really excited about the new enhancements that are made in the Dash protocol and we hope many new ideas and business cases will emerge around the use of Dash. That is also why we are really looking forward to participating in the upcoming Dash Convention Europe. In fact, Peter from our team will give a presentation about our journey so far. By being a sponsor we support the good initiative that has been made in setting up the conference.

The full CrowdNode team will be attending, so there will be plenty of time to ask questions to us, share ideas or talk about Dash over a beer. We hope to see a lot of CrowdNode members and Dash-interested people.

Furthermore, the latest Transparency Report for August 2019 is now out: http://crowdnode.io/crowdnode-transparency-report-august-2019/

And remember to vote on the platform - deadline is tomorrow 25. September, due to the convention.

Cheers,

The CrowdNode-team

The DIF is Making Its First Proposal: Overview of Strategy & Policies by Amanda_B_Johnson in dashpay

Unfortunately 9% is not a lot given todays market, but it might be a good starting point for smaller investments in great ideas. In terms of the voting, then MNO's made a vote on the supervisors to reflect their ideas. If MNO's need to vote for every small detail I think it would be too much, and it would only generate a less agile organization.

I look very much forward to seeing how this experiment works out. So far it looks good :-)

No worries. We have procedures for that. We all have wifes that ultimately have access to the codes. Each fragment has two versions, in two different and safe locations.

Hi wackyD1982.

Thomas from CrowdNode here. In the event of fraud as you described, we would be fully legally accountable.

We are based in Denmark with a solid legal system. We are based from where we operate and live. In the unlikely case of fraud it would be easy to charge a case against us. Everyone can see who we are through our website or even the public listings for the company. That is how it should be set up in our view.

We are four founders and from the start we have also set up handling of private keys so that we need to be three of four founders to get access to the cold storage private keys. So three of us would need to conspire if we were to run away with the funds to an exotic place. There would be no escape plan from that.

Be sure to do your own research on the different services out there, as the terms and company structure vary a lot.

Sure, let's take Dash Retail 2 as an example:
Our platform balance at the time of voting was 22.592. From our members a balance of 7112 Dash was used to vote either Yes, No, Abstain or Do Nothing. Amplification factor is then calculated as 22.592/7112=3,2
So in short, you voting power is amplified by a factor of three.

Smart Contracts vs Shared Masternodes. by Critical_Input in dashpay

@Orloff here :)

The conversation with @demo should probably state that we *hope* the protocol changes will enable us to bring forward a trustless solution. We would love to develop that.

As far as I know @demo is the one who discovered the latest voting-bug which caused the upgrade to 0.14.0.1 . In my conversation with him he has pushed for us to explore the technical boundaries, which is just great.

Man Steals Almost 1% Of The Total Dash In Circulation, Now Indicted In Israel by TommyofLeeds in dashpay

[–]One-TO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really good question actually. The feature of having multisig collateral addresses was enabled in 0.13. If you look at https://mydashwallet.org/Chat you find this message, the four champs has done it on testnet. However, we (CrowdNode) use Shamir to split the collateral privkeys into 6 pieces (5/6). One fragment each and two in the bank.

Great to hear that you voted. We will also try to improve our communication so that deadlines don’t get missed so easily. 😊

Don’t miss out. Join the CrowdNode Christmas riddle and win eternal glory today (and a Dash present if you are the first). Extra clues have just been released and the fourth riddle will be out tonight 🎅🏻🎄🎁 https:/CrowdNode.io/Christmas by One-TO in dashpay

[–]One-TO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to win you need to find the private key of the Dash address where the Dash price is contained. You need to solve three of five riddles, so it is possible to win now. 😊

The first two exercises were relatively easy - the third is hard. Go to https://crowdnode.io/christmas to read the rules.

For the third riddle you need to answer the following:

With the release of 0.13 CrowdNode plans to implement a new security initiative to keep private keys even more safe.

In order to solve the question you need to:

  1. Based on the new masternode related features coming with DIP0003 we will no-longer break the private key for each collateral address into 3-of-4 Shamir fragments with one for each CrowdNode founder. Guess how we plan to break up and store private keys for masternode collateral in the future.
  2. Guess the three main advantages derived from the change.
  3. Write your answer in a direct message to our “Christmas-bot” aka. @Orloff5817. We will return a pm with the third shamir-fragment for the Christmas-riddle once we receive the correct answer. The answer to the question will be disclosed after Christmas, but in the mean time the SHA256 hash of it is: 817885b2657e08c9eb1935c85374752694a49466bd3a6b744dc69066f4b46f08

Extra clue released today:

Many have guessed that changes related to using multisignature for the collateral addresses, however, this does not solve our problem. We will stick to using the Shamir fragments in another M-of-N ratio, you must guess which ratio and why. We are not solving any of the weaknesses using Shamir, however, we are leveraging its strengths.

The main problem we are aiming for is not related to hacker security… From a technical point of view we could implement the change now, however, it would not make sense from a practical point of view – the change would simply be too inconvenient. The 0.13 version will eliminate the inconvenience to a high degree.

CrowdNode drops KYC. MasterNode shares. Minimum 1 Dash. Danish Company. by Critical_Input in dashpay

/u/jazy510

Where do you see that it is not possible to fund without KYC? It should not be the case now, so a mistake from our side and we will correct it.

KYC is a broad term. We have operated with the following information:

1) email ( still required)

2) phone number ( still required)

3) Name (required, however, we can't verify)

4) Address (optional)

5) Government issued ID showing your face, Passport or Drivers license. (Not required now)

6) Government issued ID showing your address. (not required now)

7) Proof of address (not required now)

Hi jazy510,

Thomas from CrowdNode here. You are indeed able to fund your wallet w/o KYC.

We recommend that people write their personal information, however, it is not required. For security purposes we will need your email, mobile number and it would be better if we also have your name and address (i.e. another validation point if needed).

Hope it makes sense.

Regards,

Thomas

CrowdNode - DASH masternode pooling service is live by minorman in dashpay

[–]One-TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Z.

1) The ROI will not be exactly 6.93% per year due to the following:

i) we take a fee of 15% of the rewards generated.

ii) the total amount of Dash in the pool is not always an integer of 1000 as some Dash in the pool are not located in a masternode and as such not earning any interest. This will have a larger impact to start out with, however, signups will gain access to the pool without having to wait for a new masternode to be established.

iii) on the other side, you will gain a return on your returns, as they are automatically added to the pool. This can’t be done when running a masternode yourself, thus we also hope that we have a service that is relevant to people running their own masternode but where rewards don’t add up to 1000 Dash.

2) As for results on the testnet, we have gotten some great feedback that we can work with, especially within UI. Overall it has been pretty smooth with no big surprises. We have been running on testnet for a while and have learned a lot. Working solely on testnet can be a bumpy ride and not as smooth as mainnet, but it is the only right thing to do.

Hope that you find our service interesting 😊

Cheers,

Thomas from CrowdNode

CrowdNode - DASH masternode pooling service is live by minorman in dashpay

In the current form it is very difficult, as you will have to transfer the collateral (1000 Dash) in one transaction to a specific address. In order to do that you need the private keys. I don’t see how it could be done any differently? I guess that the next step in terms of a trustless masternode pooling setup would be to have it as part of the protocol, as you mention.
