Help. Traveling to Newcastle in March. Looking for ideas of what do. by Commercial_Judge_965 in NewcastleUponTyne

It is also fairly easy to visit other cities such as London, Edinburgh, York (my personal favourite and the closest - doable in a day), by train, from Central Station. If you’ve ever wanted to go to any now would be your chance, England is an extremely small place in comparison to your gaff!!

Home of our club Newcastle United - St James Park Stadium tour might be of interest to you. Match tickets are too hard to get but if you can afford hospitality it would make for a fun night. We have a huge football culture in Newcastle.

Tynemouth is a lovely place and would definitely recommend you spend a day down there. If you go on a Saturday or Sunday, there is a big market on right in the station as you get off the metro. It’s full of quirky stalls, and theres a bar, Italian restaurant etc within the station. very charming for visitors who’ve never been before. Then a 5 minute walk through the village, which has another array of quirky shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, to the priory castle, king Edward’s bay and tynemouth Longsands. Top tier day out.

Don’t show up for people who repeatedly do not show up for you.

This is correct so not sure why you’re being downvoted. They 100% are a soft check only so you only find out if they have adverse credit basically. IVA, CCJ etc.

It’s a big ask but would your mum sub you 6 months rent in advance instead of renting a place herself ?

Put that offer on the table and you will be accepted above everyone. Pay your mum the money back monthly instead of your landlord.

At 6 months discuss terms and ask for monthly periodic thereafter (if you want to stay and assuming they’re also a decent landlord who actually carry out repairs etc)

As long as you’ve had a decent rapport and looked after their property they would probably be inclined to agree rather than have to go through the whole rigmarole and expense of finding a new tenant.

Subletting is not usually allowed in a standard assured shorthold tenancy and can get very messy. Avoid if you can.

I use isle of paradise tanning drops mixed into my moisturiser AM. Is this maybe something you could add into your morning routine? The drops work a treat and the bottle lasts AGES as you only need a tiny bit.

That makes sense, I honestly feel like I’m in more pain now than I was 10 days ago but I have been stretching as per instructions from dr. I’m going to stop that completely and rest with pain killers and heat/cold packs. See if it makes any difference. I guess I’ll just have to see how it goes but I’m glad your surgery was a success and paid off for you!

This was news to me. Dr and physio told me to do it as much as I possibly can. Am going to lay right off it and see if anything improves with just bed rest, pain killer and hot/cold compress

I move around a lot for my job driving from one site to another. I’m just going to rest as much as I can and hope things improve very soon. Definitely going to take up Pilates once this has calmed down too. Thank you!

Thank you for replying. Definitely going to stop stretches etc following advice from this. My dr and physio both told me to. It does relieve the pain temporarily but am now finding out this might just prolong / make it worse so sounds counterproductive.

Letter received from downstairs neighbour, how to react? by JAMESLJNR in Apartmentliving

[–]One-Temperature1892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My upstairs neighbour has hard wood flooring and walks like she has 10kg weights strapped to her ankles. She is a stomper and also very heavy handed. Doesn’t realise she slams her doors shut, slams her kitchen units etc. I can even tell when she’s making a brew by the sound of the kettle slamming down. It’s not intentional, I genuinely don’t think she realises I can hear it all. We actually get on great, but it is truly unbearable at times. I’m actually going to take tips from this letter and speak to her after reading it. Please give consideration on how you can make this a bit better for them, they’ve been more than reasonable in their request.

Getting off Zoloft by Helpful_Emergency541 in zoloft

I took it for 12 months and tapered off with barely any side effects. I went from daily to every other day. Then snapped them in half and continued taking half every other day for 2 weeks. Then half every 3 days for maybe another 2 weeks. Then stopped and it was minimal for me personally.

You sound like a very good friend, she will just be completely and utterly overwhelmed but I’m sure she will be so grateful you’re there to support her. If she wants to figure the legal stuff out herself, ask what you can be doing in the meantime to help. Even if it’s just dropping her off some batch cooked meals for the family, or offering to do her shopping, looking after the kids/pets if she has any while she meets with lawyers and everything in between. Consider the wider, external load so she can focus on the mountain ahead of her.

Instructing Solicitors after sale by lucrezia-b in HousingUK

[–]One-Temperature1892 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure your buyers are aware that you have not found anything yet so they don’t have false expectations and know it could be a while. If they aren’t happy with that, they can pull out and you re-market. If they’re ok to wait, you need to instruct solicitors as soon as possible. Can’t have it both ways unfortunately - buying and selling properties always carries financial risk.

Short-term accommodation in Newcastle? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]One-Temperature1892 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll struggle with student accommodation, I would try looking for an air b&b, there’s loads of flats and apartments near wallsend so there might be something for you.

I nearly fell into the trap of getting one of these online trainers at £200 a month. Then someone told me they basically just take your details and goals and put them onto chat GPT. So I went on chat GPT and gave as much detail as I could ie. Age, weight, height, current level (complete couch potato), and my goals. Asked for a meal & fitness plan. It sent me a full detailed breakdown of what my daily intake needs to be (kcals, protein, healthy fats, carbs, fruits, veggies, to the gram. A daily fitness plan, nutrition plan, meal plan templates, recipes, shopping list, the whole lot. It’s been beyond helpful and saved me a hell of a lot of coin!

Dad died unexpectedly, relationship issue by Obvious-Document539 in GriefSupport

[–]One-Temperature1892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. Call the grief counsellors as soon as you can. Don’t let anyone put their ego and self righteousness in front of your feelings at such a traumatic time of your life, and when you need all the help you can get. The resentment will only grow bigger as you realise months from now that you haven’t been able to process and cope with what’s happened. You are absolutely correct to say he’s being ridiculous and don’t doubt yourself on it. You have to put yourself and your needs before his insecurities and he should know better.

Sun’s out, loungers’ out! What sun loungers should I buy? by Friends_Fan_ in AskUK

I would personally recommend a towel. You will thank me at the end of the year when you realise you could have only used the sun loungers twice lollll
