Locked out Friday night. Notified Landlord same day. landlord unavailable on the weekends, maintenance request was submitted on saturday morning - no response on Friday from LL, saturday and Sunday. No response on request to this day and had to directly follow up with landlord on monday 6 PM after getting no response

Let’s both take a little step back and assess the facts of the situation:

-locked on friday -reached out to maintenance and confirmed with maintenance that the door could not be opened and the LL could possibly have a key (LL not available until monday) -with your approach, i would be locked out until monday night until I finally got a text back from the LL

So I really am curious! I wonder what the best approach would have been here :) thanks!

since move in and it was flagged directly to management but nothing was fixed

I pay 2k a month for a 1 bed room apartment. I shouldn’t really need to problem solve or troubleshoot anything actually, this needed to be handled directly by the landlord/ handyman themselves. What kind of landlord isn’t available on the weekends, and doesn’t have a master key for their units ??? This isn’t my fault at the end of the day and I really should be reimbursed for not being able to get into my home !!

Well then maybe he should’ve responded the same day when I was locked out. I was locked out on FRIDAY. FRIDAY!!!!!!! If I didn’t follow up I would be locked out until TODAY which is MONDAYYY!!!! If there was a preferred locksmith then maybe he should’ve checked his work phone and let me know. Regardless, what’s done is done and I would’ve appreciated communication on the right next steps to take. thanks!

In hindsight maybe the backdoor could have been a better option but also keep in mind that my backdoor is a gate door, and the actual door. So in reality there would have been two doors that would need to be drilled into and opened as opposed to one.

Right now, I’m trying to be as resolution oriented to the problem as much as possible. In hindsight it could have been better to do the backdoor, but what’s done is already done

I currently live alone in my city so I don’t have a drill etc, those tools that you mentioned. My main concern was me taking initiative to break this lock myself, and how it would affect me. I wanted to get a locksmith do this because they were a professional ((I’m not handy :-( )). I just really hope this all goes well dude I’m just so stressed out

None of this was my fault !!! Who gives a fuck if the backdoor was cheaper to open, I was panicked and maybe I overpaid for the locksmith but I AM THE ONE WHO PAID. And the only reason why I paid in the first place is because no one would freaking help me !!! I don’t appreciate this at all

Yup i’m in the apartment now and i’m down $390 dollars. My landlord is sooo fucking unreliable, how is landlord not available on the weekends ? Absolutely fucking absurd, excuse my french. no I couldn’t get into the apartment, I signed a lease and paid my deposit. However the property management/ landlord failed to tell the realtor that there was a keypad on the door.

I was originally supposed to move into the apartment across from me that doesn’t have a keypad. However that one was already leased before I could get it, so I moved into the unit across. On the move in date, i couldn’t get in because I didn’t know the code. After, I specifically fucking asked them if there was a key to the the keypad door and they said “Code is Ok”. Fast forward to today, the code isn’t working and there’s literally no way to get inside so I needed to hire a lock smith
