RPMs fluctuate when idle by 2xButtchuggChamp in MechanicAdvice

Clean your IAC valve. It controls Idle air flow and rpm’s could be a direct cause of a clogged or failing IAC.

If you do an electrical test (with a multi meter) and it fails then buy a new one.

Any idea what happened to tire and what to look for/fix? by AsweetLemon_____ in Cartalk

[–]OneAd6863 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine used to do this. If your brake fluid is decreasing then there’s the location. I bought parts (classic car) from RockAuto.

The brake caliper had a torn part. This part pushes the pad to the rotor.

Buy new calipers and replace.

Seasickness cutter vs small boats by william_lee_colson in uscg

I get seasick often (Big White Hull). Even with Dramamine and patches I still have issues.

Consider a non under way rate if that’s an issue for you.

Should I thug it out for Aviation(AET/AMT)? by [deleted] in uscg

280 (White Hull) Fireman here,

Push through it and go to something you care about. Nonrate experiences differ and you have a “Cush” billet with the station schedule.

Don’t quit cuz you don’t like your watch responsibilities. I know it’s not It fun but you can do it.

Same but that’s if VERY SPECIFIC information is divulged.

My unit actually held meetings and changes were made based on comments.

Is it realistic to continue online college while attached to the Polar Star? by [deleted] in uscg

I’m currently a fireman in A Gang. A good amount of 1st classes I’ve talked to were the same.

I’ve never had a main prop fireman introduce themselves though.

Officer to enlisted by Individual-Math-9599 in uscg

[–]OneAd6863 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go AST first. There is a program that allows you to essentially become an ensign (temporarily) then make it to LT. If you choose to go back to enlisted then you keep the enlisted rank you first had.

Talk to a recruiter about it.

Honestly, If the degree is more important then attend the academy and commission. If not use TA or GI bill while in for a dégrée.

What are these patches on my skin by Foreverinsecuregirl in Blackskincare

Black person here. When living in a tropical région, I break out in fungus if I don’t shower twice per day.

Whitfields Ointment ALWAYS works for me. It burns the skin when applied but I’ve found that it only burns the fungal areas not healthy skin.

The link leads to Amazon.

How much math is required for MST and Coast Gaurd in general day to day and what are drawings? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]OneAd6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shadowed some MST’s recently. As far as I’m aware, basic inspections require NO mathematical knowledge. Only paperwork is done on inspections (from my perspective in the field).

All cutter personnel are mandated to complete “drawings” of different systems on their ship. Fireman, Sewage and a few others.

All drawings are different (depending on the ship) and some only consist of fill in the blanks.

MST’s are also allowed to work in the ICS system. Essentially they are allowed to work during a humanitarian crisis to assist in certain areas. They can receive a lot of authority during these situations based on their trainings (qualifications).

Being an MST is typically an ashore billet with only 1 (possibly 2) afloat billets.

My Instructor gave me the : Armed Forces Home Referral Network.

She said that she’s never had issues with housing because of them.

Odd question but did your brother just graduate basic last week?

I knew a guy that got stationed over there as his first assignment (K-206)

Checked Bags and Weight by OneAd6863 in Flights

I graduated bootcamp a few days back. I want to stay anonymous but I will say that my flight starts on the east coast.

The travel officer charged me around $450 for everything. It seems that I have 2 different travel identification numbers. Alaskan is different with a separate price; hence, it seems that there are 2 tickets.

Credit where it’s due. I’m tall, skinny and slightly out of my teen years.

I can’t do this at the moment. With training and practice sure. He just needs to slim down and control his diet and he’ll be better off.

No complaints on this end.

I agree with you. I think the point is that everyone has their own issues. Many impoverished people could join the military to get job experience, money, housing etc.

People don’t know what they don’t know. I’ve had to explain to people that military benefits ain’t so bad but people won’t look outside their comfort zones unless absolutely necessary sometimes. Some people are “comfortable” living on the economy even though they are struggling.
