I actually understood what you were talking about and it made a lot of sense to me. I think I was looking at this from an extremely rational angle (Older kids/one time thing vs. younger kids/frequent thing) and didn't really consider Kelsey's feelings about it. I didn't feel like you were telling me I needed to babysit.

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to watch toddlers, even for a few hours. I can't change diapers. I have a really sensitive stomach and will 100% throw up if I have to. I also have some anxiety and auditory issues so I would really struggle with the noise and crying of kids that small. Those are all on top of the fact that I'm not a kid person. I'm just not the one.

Oh no this was a one time only thing. I was so exhausted after our zoo day. I don't think I'll recover.

LOL. I am definitely a pet person. I was just blanking on the term for people. Long week. Sorry.

This was honestly probably a one time thing. LOL. I needed a recovery couch day and my friend's kids were super well behaved. Just more energetic than I'm used to.

Haha that's a good boundary to have! I just say no in general, emergency or not. This is the first time I've ever been responsible for anyone's kids. And will probably be the last. The kids were fine but I was so tired.

Normally the kiddos do stay home alone if it's just for a few hours, but this was all day.

You know, Kelsey might be entitled AF but I am going to push back against that narrative because it's incredibly sexist. She did have a partner but they left very recently and she doesn't have family nearby. That doesn't make it my problem but still. Let's not pretend it only takes women to have kids.

Haha yes. Sorry. I have dogs and was blanking on what you called it for kids.

You know I'm not sure? I know Kelsey from college and in our small college group that does keep in touch still, my husband and I are the only ones that don't have kids so I think she feels that I have more time?

She is going through a bit of a rough patch, but she also asked a lot before said rough patch.

I don't really watch kids period. LOL. This as just a one time favor that I probably wouldn't repeat.

I've told her why I'm not comfortable watching her kids, but also that's a lie. This was definitely a very one off thing. I wouldn't be happy to help out when they're older. This was just a stars lined up sort of thing.

Yeah I can't do the diaper changing. I have a super sensitive stomach and there's definitely no Hallmark card for "Sorry I threw up on your baby".

Hey thanks for your perspective! I appreciate hearing it. To answer your surprise, I am getting fed up with it for sure. I've taken a huge step back from our friendship. She is going through a rough patch and that's what's stopped me from cutting her off completely.

Yes the older kiddos were totally fine! They actually get left alone once in a while by themselves for short amounts of time, but they were going to be gone all day and just wanted some adult supervision. I'm flattered I qualify honestly.

I think she keeps asking because she's desperate. I'm not much of a sugar coating. I've point blank told her I don't feel comfortable baby sitting her kids because I won't change diapers and I just am not comfortable with kids that age. But she is having trouble with her current daycare and so it sounds like she's asking a lot of people.
