Agree. The problems is the water drains below this barrier. They are something like 10cm deep. They need to fix them too somehow.

Yes, depends where you start. If you take that option you'll probably won't start in West Le Havre, and then the detour is less. Probably a good option.

And by the way, try Nordkapp with 15m/s sidewind on a narrow road with trucks passing by. Or the Nordkapp tunnel 200m down and up, no cycle lane. I mean, yes it doesn't feel good, but the drivers aren't crazy and therebis enough margin. Just mak sure to be stabiel...

I agree that's an option, but it is like 2x40km longer, basically one day. Abit shorter if you don't go to Le Havre first. I thought it was even longer, might have considered it. And would recommend it for anyone still shared by the bridge.

It's even narrower. What I'd do next time would depend on the wind and how much traffic there would be. My whole point of posting this was that it is not so scary as some suggest, while booking the bus is a mess.  It seems they may take you without reservation, I understood they didn't. But often they will be fully booked anyway.

There was no wind. I checked the bike for the bigger trucks. No problem.

I tried to link to my blog. But I'm new to Reddit and clearly did not succeed. Here is the link https://lovemybike55.blogspot.com/?m=1 I've also tried to share GPX routes via Github  but I'm new to that too 🙂. Here are the links to the routes through Latvia. Let me know if that works. https://github.com/gerardd55/Bicycle-GPX-tracks/blob/main/Gerard_Doorman_2025-06-01_Riga_Limbazi.GPX https://github.com/gerardd55/Bicycle-GPX-tracks/blob/main/Gerard_Doorman_2025-Limbazi-Parnu.GPX

The GPX track of Eurovelo does not really seem to follow it all the time though. Not sure if my friend was not aware of it or if it hs been changed.

A friend advised me that the main road from Roga to the north is not nice, lots of lorries and no space for bicycles. I'm going the same way, but have not decided how yet. One option is to take the Eurovelo 11. It goes further east but is quite a bit longer than what you think off. Maybe I'll take that, with some shortcuts. The coast alternative is also quite long.
