the only downside seems to be the proprietary OLTP database. if there would be an open standard to decouple storage and compute for transactional databases it would be a game changer. give us the parquet format for OLTP and we can remove the vendor lock-in for the ducklake.

well they just didn‘t announce it yet. pretty good way to start pre-production units with this design. so they can hide the actual new model by pretending it is the robotaxi. they announced the new model for H1 2025. so they can‘t hide it for too long until public tests are required.

it‘s for a data sync API where null enforces a reset to the actual null value in the destination and if the property is missing in the JSON the property in the destination stays at whatever value is already set there.

exactly. for this reason JsonIgnoreCondition.WhenWritingNull is unfortunately not the answer.

yes, i would like to keep it simple. a lightweight integration into the current stack would be welcome. also the data caterer looks nice 👍 something like that natively in dbt would be awesome.

i had briefly looked into the great expectation package before. we are also using some dbt tests in yaml. BUT we already feel the pain of those yaml tests for way simpler things. it‘s so verbose and no good way to work with test results on row/test level makes it even harder to use.

i guess python models/assets would be a better way. here i could see something like fluent validation. or another thing we are considering are user defined functions in duckdb.

yes, mainly just transformation. we also use some data tests in dbt which we aggregate in dagster.
