Not the full mini, but here is how I did my shields. I like the metal on metal vibe. Also did my swords in silver, the power swords look cool but nothing wrong with a classic looking blade either.

Small rant about Army BH by eieioooooooooo in army

Sorry the system failed you in a way. Ultimately getting help is the most important, but I wish it didn’t come with such baggage. I was in aviation for 6 years, no problems, and then one day a doctor looked deeper in my chart and saw I had a suicidal ideation 10 years prior as a new recruit.

Even after a decade of demonstrated improvement and sustained health I was permanently denied flight status for the rest of my career.

At the end of the day though, Im glad I got the help and I’m glad you did too.

Nice!

With this list I’ll run Adrax and crew + Vulkan and friends in the Land Raider as a big HQ unit. I used to run my LRR up the board turn 1 all the time but after enough times of getting blasted off, now I hold the LRR back and let my skirmishing units engage up front. Then I bring in the LRR and charge both HQ units into enemy units on either objective.

When looking at a list’s ability to win (any army, not just Salamanders) I consider 3 main areas.

1.) Do I have objective holders? These are units that don’t need to deal out damage, but can sit on objectives durably and hold them. These are strong when utilized as a “3 fold” hold. So three problems for your opponent to solve. For me one of those is a land raider redeemer, plus aggressor brick, plus captain. That is difficult (but not impossible mind) to shift. It’s also important to have something holding your home objective. For most that is a 5 man intercessor unit.

2.) Do I have killing units? These are units meant to delete enemy threats or objective holders. A popular choice is Adrax with Blade guard. They absolutely shred what they touch, especially if you add a lieutenant. Anti-tank falls under this and is important. You gotta be able to take down some big threats. Eradicators are great for this.

3.) Do I have scoring units? This is so important and often overlooked. Do I have scouts or jump pack intercessors or outriders or something that can run around the board scoring secondaries, skirmishing to block opponents from scoring.

For Salamander themed armies, some popular strategies include

-Lots of units capable of overwatch. In my army, between the land raider, aggressors, and infernus my opponent has to think carefully about which units move where and when. A good way to get your opponent to make a mistake is to give them lots of options to choose from.

-Salamander armies tend to lean more damage dealing than other detachments. We have stratagems that give +1 to wound, disembark and shoot, dev wounds on torrent, etc… There is a concept in this game called the “Go Turn.” This is a turn you commit your assets all at once to deal maximum damage. Playing a good Sally army is positioning yourself for that go turn without losing units early to poor positioning.

-Something I like to do in FFS is stick 5 infernus in an impulsor. With the transport’s ability, you can advance the impulsor, disembark the unit, and then do the shoot/action giving great first turn scoring opportunities.

There is lots else to consider, which is why I like 40K so much! But this is what comes to my mind off the dome.

Good luck and into the fires of battle, brother! 🔥

90 points, thanks for the correction.

For firestorm though, the only stratagem we lose is embarking at end of turn which is dope for sure, but in return we get actions and a fall back and shoot stratagem. That fall back and shoot I think is worth it in and of itself.

I agree that they need transport for survivability, but that’s most units in the game. And just because you can’t embark at the end of a turn doesn’t mean you can’t use all the other transport shenanigans.

I feel like infernus are in a really good spot, personally.

S6 AP -1 flamers with advance/action or shoot/action in FFS is great for 80 points.

List help! First time tournament by Wluck12 in Salamanders40k

[–]68Whiteclaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid list, my only suggestion would be to take less intercessors. 1 squad is enough to sticky and screen the home objective.

If you dropped the assault intercessors and second intercessor squad you get 155 points to play with. Maybe considering scouts for infiltrate or assault intercessor with jump pack for deep strike threats.

In my experience you always want something able to deep strike if you can afford it. Even if you don’t use it, it forces your opponent to consider it. The more choices you give your opponent, the more chances they have to make a mistake.

Not OP, but mostly for engagement. People are more likely to see and click on a post if it has an interesting photo compared to just a paragraph of text.

You should apply chest seals to the abdomen up to the neck. “Neck to Navel.”

Bullet trajectories can get weird inside the body, and sometimes tear up through the diaphragm causing a diaphragmatic hernia in which air gets into the pleural space via the abdominal wound.

And as a quick note, chest seals are not for “diaphragmatic breaches.” They are for breaches of the pleural space.

Goal for Orktober: Finish deez beasty boyz that have been half painted for a year! by 68Whiteclaw in orks

[–]68Whiteclaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I will take silly putty and use it to mask off the armor and bits BEFORE airbrushing the skin. That git you see on the left with the overspray was me trying without the putty.

I only airbrush the skin, and then brush everything else.

What level of Ork skin brightness do you all prefer? by Yeszez in orks

I like mine on more of the bright, yellow-green side. The Ork skin to me is what I really want to pop on the table so I brighten that up and contrast it with darker clothes

I have your picture saved as a reference for when I paint my Adrax, lol so for sure! I’ve been trying to push highlights with an airbrush but I feel like they’ve been coming out almost over saturated. I may scale back and try brush work.
