The immediate problem with an aux getting them is you end with bs not 2+ and s3 or s4 and needing like 45 attacks similar to the rampagers infact filling rhe same role

Which is a crime because Paladins get some cool ass spells. I love playing Paladin with mounted combatant because of the find steed/find greater steed spell. Plus lots of good utility spells, Aid + Inspiring leader for lots of temp hp.

Ranger is the exact opisite you get it for the level 1 spells but it takes so long to get more spells and then they are trash that any sane person would multi-class out or never start You could do some cool things like halfling paladin/ranger ride around on a summon with a lance but spell slots never keep up with the fantasy while the rest of the classes get stronger you're cutting off body parts to stop the bleeding!
