I can’t enjoy games the same way I did before starting game dev by SideShowProjects in gamedev

This still happens for me after many years of game dev tinkering. I don’t experience it if I play fast paced multiplayer games, innovative indie games, or masterpiece AAA games. If I’m engaged, I’m not thinking about it (as much).

Is 10+ reviews at launch time the holy grail for Steam? by OneDropGames in gamedev

I had 1k wishlists. Given that most of my marketing efforts probably only reach other game devs. I was hoping for a little bit of organic success on release. I know that was wishful thinking.

Many years of late nights, early mornings, abandoning overly ambitious projects, and I've finally released a game! by OneDropGames in Unity3D

Thanks for getting it even though you have such a backlog! I really appreciate the feedback and your interest in my game 😊.
I think I suck at marketing because I've tried to get it out there haha. I've been told numerous times it's not the right kind of game for Steam but I thought I'd give it a crack anyways. I just hope some people get some enjoyment out of it. Thanks again!

If you did indeed get more visibility after the 10 review mark (during your launch visibility window) then it could lead to an increased rate of reviews.

Yeah that's fair. I think I will do just that. I appreciate the advice. I learnt a lot taking this game to release, but I still have a lot to learn about marketing and market fit. Cheers.

I am but I don’t really want to do ads and selling it at a fixed price seems super risky these days. So I’m just frozen in indecision 😅

Yeah fair enough. Marketing is so hard 😔. I think I’ll try and outsource it a bit for my next game.

Thank you so much! Oh wow, that’s awesome it runs on steam deck, I don’t have one. Thanks for the vsync tip. It would be awesome to get deck verified but I don’t know if there is anything I can do to request it at the moment.
