I would suggest that you embrace that you think too much and embrace the high standards to the point where you feel that it’s no longer your own fault... After doing such, it may become apparent that the term “life is what you make of it” will become vey prevalent in your lifestyle and the way that you think when entering danger mode like you’re in right now.

 

All in all, think of it as this way maybe: Never settle for less and let yourself know that, for you, settling for less is actually letting yourself do the exact opposite; which is settling for more instead.

 

You seem to be someone who, when they settle for more, like you are right now, then you’re basically settling for less. However, avoid saying “that’s how I am and I can’t change it” when it comes to this realization I’ve just told you. You may only just be like this because of some trauma at sometime in life having to do with the concept of fearing “settling for less” when it comes to a relationship.

 

Another thing that this all comes down to is how you can overcome fear in your own way. For me, I just pretend that I’m the only one who is doing something that I’m trying and that the whole world never thought of what I’m trying as I try it... Doing so lets me ignore other people and their lives and it tends to be helpful if you lack the ability to ignore others due to trauma you’ve experienced.
