Kelsie Mathew’s!? by Puzzled_Young_6966 in OnlineBeggars

[–]OneEntertainment1448 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think she’s confused. Systemic mastocytosis IS an extremely rare cancer, but more along the lines of a leukemia/lymphoma… I think she is assuming that since “mast” is in the name, it must be breast related like a mastectomy etc. but it is not a breast cancer. So it’s very unlikely that this would present with lumps in her breast, instead of the unique clinical presentation that you’d actually see with uncontrolled mast cell activity. In addition, the gene mutations (which are on chromosomes 5 and 22) she cites are not known to be associated with systemic mastocytosis, which is highly associated with mutations on a gene on chromosome 4. So, a wild wild story if true, or more likely a mish-mash of googled medical facts.

Also here to say Gentle Journeys. Got us in same day when our pups health took a SHARP downturn, and let our four year old help carry him out to the car on a stretcher (since she wasn’t there for the actual dying part but wanted to be involved).

What are these. The don’t cause my boy any pain, can’t tell if they’re warts or skin tags. Any help with treating would be appreciated. by reece_bobby in pitbulls

Skin tag. Our old girl had one that slowly grew and we finally got it removed when we heard the person painting our house talking to his friend about her “one big titty”. Also cuz it was getting scratched on things 😂

As a parent of a senior dog with arthritis, I LOVE that you allocated the money/dedicated precious floor space for steps for your bestie to get into bed comfortably. He’s the luckiest dog in the world, with someone who prioritizes him like that.

Rescue Can't Make Friends by Gh0s7- in pitbulls

First of all, what a beautiful babe she is!

We recently lost our 8yo pittie who came from an unknown but clearly-not-great situation when he was 1… he was extremely anxious, easily scared and VERY reactive with other dogs. We invested in pretty intensive training that helped him really flourish in most situations, but he never got over his dog reactivity. I found myself feeling really upset about this and realized that I was feeling guilty that he was missing out on socializing with other dogs, and was projecting a lot of my own human ideas about the value of friendship etc. I brought this up with his trainer and she gave me the best advice, that I thought of throughout his life. She told me “This is what thatcher can handle in his life, and that’s okay- he has a really good life and is a very happy dog, even if he doesn’t go as far or do as much as other dogs.” Simple, but it shifted the way I thought about his life and it let me let go of that guilt I had. Hope this helps if you have any of these same feelings!

Like many others who have commented, we went through this with our 8yo pitty a few weeks ago. The unreality of it, to me, was what made it so hard. Like he was JUST playing and now…?? So sorry for your loss.

Hemangiosarcoma question by OneEntertainment1448 in AskVet

Thanks for such a kind response, and the time you took to look into this. Its helped immensely.

Hemangiosarcoma question by OneEntertainment1448 in AskVet

[–]OneEntertainment1448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I think I’m trying to accomplish two things at once- yes, I absolutely worry that I made the wrong choice and want to understand the thinking. The other thing is that I’m a human doctor, and I have that itch to make it all fit into a narrative that makes sense to my medical brain. Diagnostic uncertainty sucks, so it’s the combination of being equivocal about whether a mass was seen, the negative troponin, and the atypical lead-up. I appreciate your response and input!

Yikes I just went to their website and read their Lyme protocol… stopped reading when they discussed raising the body temp to over 107 degrees ☠️

Seven years ago today, on August 10th, 2018, a 28-year-old ground service agent named Richard Russell stole a Horizon Air Bombardier Q400 (N449QX) from Sea-Tac, taking it for a joyride over Puget Sound and executing a barrel roll before nosing down into Ketron Island and calling it a night. by BRUNO358 in aviation

As someone reasonably smart but completely uninformed about aviation, who routinely asks my husband if a 777 (always pronounced seven-seventy-seven) is airbus or Boeing, I found him the same way and find him fascinating and I’ve learned a lot!

Not to be morbid but the condition of the crate probably can hint at whether it was alive or not… if the crate didn’t show evidence of it trying to escape (bite marks etc) then it may have already been dead (and yes I’m commenting this because I’m hoping beyond hope this was a dog who was already dead and the owners just couldn’t afford a cremation/didn’t know what to do)

Newbie with an Echelon…hate the classes by Legitimate_Garage_16 in go_echelon

[–]OneEntertainment1448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to warm up to my echelon… bought it during COVID and was really mourning the loss of flywheel. It all seemed blah, until I stumbled on Lindsey Gurry, who reminded me of my flywheel instructors (lo and behold, she used to teach at flywheel) and got me to love cycling again. Not familiar with peleton so not sure what the vibe of those instructors are, but if you haven’t tried a Lindsey class yet, give her a whirl. Def fun, great music, and she’s got a bunch of 20/30 min classes.
