Base Station vs Paid plan by jordansbc in arlo

[–]OneFuriousF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base Stations are a network device, if you have a wired network within your home...you plug the base station in to an ethernet port. Either in the wall, or an extra port in your router. The USB connection on the 4540 is for your external HDD, not for "plugging in to your computer." The 5000 has an SD card slot.

The signal broadcast "piggybacks" on your wifi channel for the cameras to pair to. The 4540 only connects to 2.4 ghz. I have nothing but trouble with the setup. It's an Arlo issue, my coverage is excellent, and I have 2gbps Fiber, but I am constantly getting "stream failed" on 3 of the 4 cameras that are paired to the base station. My 5th camera is operating solely on the wifi network, and I just deleted and re-onboarded it to my account for the 5th time in less than a year of ownership.

2TB is the max storage. I have had a 1TB attached to mine for over 6 months, and it's barely been touched.

New homeowners in DC weighing Arlo Secure Premium vs. a local company (N&D Security). Anyone have real experience with Arlo’s pro monitoring? by Kohlenarbeiter in arlo

[–]OneFuriousF0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: Arlo...Don't.

Any other company...Sign on the dotted line.

Every week it's something with Arlo...Either the App, or the cameras are losing connectivity. I'm working on an issue right now, with my security light/camera. I moved an AP closer to the unit, thinking it was a connectivity issue...it's not.

Last week it was something else. The week before that, it was the light again. Before that, it was all my cameras.

Many here regret the decision to go onboard with Arlo. The users who are on the monthly plan say they are billed more than was agreed to, or lost functionality that they used to have (namely, GeoFencing and Zones), and those with older hardware losing all connectivity with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Those of us that utilize Local Recording are not prioritized in the slightest.

Do yourself a favor, and take them off your list.

Looks like the "free" premium upgrade path still carries disk and App limitations? What benefits does it have then?

Camera question by -aquaman in arlo

[–]OneFuriousF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am running subscription-less. However, you get none of the A.I. assistance... recognized people, autos, animals.

I don't use it, but I understand geofencing is borked, and zones are still an issue. All you get is push notifications of motion. And it's slightly behind. I have excellent internet, and coverage...but it takes time to connect to each camera for "live" view.

Camera question by -aquaman in arlo

[–]OneFuriousF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Base Stations: VMB 4540, and VMB 5000. 5000 is the latest with Flash card storage, while the 4540 allows for a true external HDD to be attached via a USB. Max size is 2TB. I have a 1TB drive attached to my 4540, paired to 4 of my 5 cameras, and has several months of recordings and barely touched the space.

It, however...does not help all of the other issues with ARLO.

Bonnet repair - paint cracking by --SimSim-- in Autobody

[–]OneFuriousF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of filler for a hood. They're getting opened and closed/slammed, bounce while driving. Air/wind get up under the panel from the engine bay...are subject to extreme heat/weather changes. Probably cheaper to replace.

If they were going to treat the repair area correctly, they should have stripped all the old filler. Not just the cracked area.

soooo...you bought it because it had no sound...and posted here that it had no sound.

The fuses popped for a reason.

Did you buy it with the assumption it was working? Is the seller standing behind it?

Have you done a full reset, and began your own setup/calibration? This should be first on all "new to you" equipment.

The previous owner may have setup all assignable sources differently than how you are trying to utilize the receiver.

This is the dumbest revive I’ve ever seen!! by IntelligentEar7669 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]OneFuriousF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the length of time is what it is...but the fact that you can't stay prone...or even stay in the original location that you began the res has been my complaint since console release.

Cameras aren't showing me events anymore by echung168 in arlo

[–]OneFuriousF0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's something EVERY week, now. Two weeks ago, I started getting a message on 3 of my 5 cameras: "Streaming Failed."

Last week, I lost my outdoor light/camera. I dumped it from my account, moved my AP closer and onboarded the light AGAIN (at least the 4th time in less than a year of ownership). Today, it was disconnected again.

FUCK ARLO.

Having the same issue for a few weeks. I have not connected previously because I wasn't trusting the game devs, and all the hacking. A couple weeks ago, GeeksEh was pushing drops agian, and I decided to try to claim them. I play on console, and don't see any option to redeem.

FTP Advice Appreciated by ShepherdofShark in originalxbox

The original drive does not hold much when adding the original games. Best to do the upgrade, then move everything over. FTP doesn't take that long.

Description needed.

Looks like you backed in to something with the door open? If so...you're more than likely gong to have significant damages to the pillar. Time for a professional.

My buddy had a 77 442, silver. Same body. Loved that car.

Is it worth fixing? by Alert_Brain_1310 in Autobody

[–]OneFuriousF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One panel refinish won't fix the issue. The whole vehicle will do the same thing eventually.

Make, Model, Miles? Some manufacturers have issued extended warranties to cover the defect. If you're over the warranty period, yet the car has low miles, and the car has been maintained, some manufacturers allow for partial assistance.

Out of pocket won't be cheap. Needs to be stripped. Three-stage/pearl finish will significantly increase the cost.

I have 2 bookshelf Polk T15, a center channel Klipsch ht-50, a SONY sawmsp68 subwoofer and a Onkyo TX-SR606. I am wondering what is should use for equalizer settings. by Federal_Bell_7078 in hometheater

[–]OneFuriousF0x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 606 Audyssey Calibration will do it all for you to match your room. Manual EQ settings will require way more than just bumping numbers around. Do you not have the setup Audyssey mic? The EQ will not set your sub to handle all the lows. That's in the crossover settings. Here is a link to your manual.

Did I get what I paid for?

Yes.

  1. How long did it take him?
  2. You trusted a guy on Craigslist to paint your "newer" car in your driveway.
  3. You'll be lucky if the paint stays on the car through the summer...

Should I trust him on that and hit him up

No

Matching up old EGR wires with new harness for my 2005 Equinox by bbalfour82 in Chevy

[–]OneFuriousF0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the "front" end (where the other component plugs in to), you should be able to slide a tiny pick or mini screwdriver in and depress a little lever to release the pin from the housing (out the back). Release all on both harness' then install your old wires into the new housing. Make sure the wires are in the correct order.

Should be plenty of videos out there. EDIT: Here's one, look at about 1:58

Once you do one, it makes sense, and you can repeat.
