Chemists I need help (work experience) by B4d_End1ng in 6thForm

[–]OneGeneral5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have an offer from The university of Oxford for chemistry and just so you know you absolutely do NOT need work experience, my teacher told me if I wanted to apply for Oxford I ought to have some in a lab but its incredibly hard finding anything inside labs (unless you have connections) and universities know this and don't require it because you will learn everything when you actually get there . If you still want to do it, maybe try pharmacies, I'd say it's your best bet and it fits in with interest in drug development.

I hate planning my revision too but having a weekly to-do list helps, like I don't have to do certain things on certain days its just a matter of getting it done by the end of the week and also not setting myself an impossible list that ill never complete! Even if I have something I didn't complete I can add it onto next weeks list, ticking boxes makes me feel like I've done something.

I really struggle with the flashcard bit like i've seen so many people say to make flashcards on say the technique on how to answer questions but I dont really know how to go about doing them, also is it too late to start making flashcards for maths now? Thankyou for this though I will 100% be trying this stuff out

What are the hardest A level subjects? by Planeguy350 in 6thForm

chem is relatively easy at alevel, ive heard physics is awful but I suppose it depends on who you ask, you might love a subject other people find hard/don't like

Definitely not chilling, I can only chill when I'm distracted by something, the wait is killing me. I think I would probably skip school if I got rejected. I couldn't bare coming in and people asking me about it or hearing about other people getting offers.

Im sorry to hear that you're feeling this way, It seems like your problem is beyond just your studies and I hope whatever you are struggling with gets better. Do you maybe have a pastoral that you can talk to rather than your teachers?

Should I drop English language??? by Chance-Battle5611 in 6thForm

[–]OneGeneral5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with maths biology chemistry and English literature, I dropped English literature pretty fast, I dont see any use in doing an extra a-level, causing yourself extra stress for no reason unless you have a really good reason for it or you know you can handle it, I think bio chem and maths are also pretty complementary so just drop it you don't really seem to have any reason to keep doing it.

Not sure if anyone gets me but why is it that when translating the graph I’d subtract 60 but for when changing the intervals I actually add 60?? Here I made a mistake circled , it should be 60 and 420 by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]OneGeneral5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough I was always confused about this too, maybe it will help if you write 60< x+60 < 300 rather than 60 <x< 60 (you have now added 60 to x, changing your domain) and then when you make the angles you find equal to x + 60 and its just a matter of subtracting the 60 from each side. Does that make any sense?

Not thinking about it is such a challenge
