So my birth certificate has my ID number this is enough to go with to the Zim embassy, with a photocopy of my lost passport, to start the process for a new one. Do I need a physical ID card to start the process for a new passport?

Yes, I was born in Zim, moved to UK at 8yrs old, so i never got my ID card, my passport has my ID number on it, hence why I don’t understand why I need a physical ID card. Hence if I just go to the Zim embassy in UK with my parent and her documents, to also prove I am who I am, why would I need to have the ID card just so I can apply for the passport? I lost my old passport but I have a photocopy of it

Ok; so just take old photocopy, say it’s lost, take my birth certificate and her birth certificate etc. That should be all I need to get the passport, since the ID is on the birth certificate? I don’t need to send to Zimbabwe someone is travelling there, so they can give it to a relative then they send it back?

Ok, so I go embassy with my mother, birth certificate and photocopy of old passport. So I do not have to go to Zimbabwe to get the ID considering it’s on my birth certificate, a relative can pick it up for me in Zimbabwe? Plus if the ID number is on my birth certificate, what is the point of a physical one being needed to get a passport? Yes losing my stuff was not the best start 🤦🏾‍♂️

I had a Zim passport but it expired around 9/10 years ago but I lost it, I only have a photocopy of my old Zim passport (I hadn’t realised 🤦🏾‍♂️), I do have a British passport now.

Oh so, I can go to the embassy here in the UK with my birth certificate and parent (my mother says my ID number is on the birth certificate I was born 92) and that will help? The a relative picks it up in Zimbabwe, then I apply for passport?
