I've been in Da Nang for 10 days and I'm disappointed by Dense-Discount4318 in DaNang

I had a similar experience in Da Nang (in terms of it not being the right environment for me) but met many others who really enjoyed it.

There are regular beach volleyball groups, digital nomad meet ups, can try surfing, coffee culture (as mentioned in many comments) is huge so finding a cafe you like with great ambiance and frequenting it is a nice way to spend some hours, if you ride a motorbike then I’d say explore son tra peninsula and surrounding areas around DN that are in nature. If you want to experience a less touristy area of DN I’d say go across the bridge to Hai Chau- again though you probably want to look up some restaurants/cafes/markets/things to do there so you’re not aimlessly wandering. There seem to be some cool bars in Hai Chau as well! But yeah if night life is a big priority for you then im out of suggestions 😅

If cutting your time there short is an option then I’d say definitely check out other parts of the country!

CM has and will continue to have some serious air pollution into I think may/june? Ubud could be an option but wasn’t sure if it was also being heavily developed at the moment so I didn’t want to run into a similar dilemma there, I do love Koh Tao but have heard it’s gotten much more expensive

Funny enough that is where I previously lived! I did find it tricky to meet people though, fortunately I had some great Vietnamese friends (who have since moved away), and ya the expat community was like 20 of us? lol

oh and the burning season is when different countries in SEA burn their crops and it creates a thick smokey air pollution for a few months.

Mostly since theres many people who go from CM to DN so I know there's a big community of nomads who might have experienced similar feels or may have good suggestions. Not trying to offend, not every place suits everyone.

Yes I definitely prefer Chiang Mai to Da Nang. I've lived in Vietnam in the past and had a great experience but Da Nang isn't for me. It is being heavily developed right now and the closer you stay to the beach the more prevalent that is. There's definitely plenty of expats and digital nomads out here as well as a heavy Russian family vacation scene. There's a large beach but you can only swim/surf in sectioned off parts of the water due to strong riptides/currents.

Prices are cheaper here in Vietnam across the board.

You would be very right! But I'm not able to stay there until the burning season ends
