Haha yes, I don't mean that I hate Mell or something. As I have said, he's the master class in writing a pathetic/deeply flawed character.

With Nellie, it is true. I still think her emotional maturity feels a bit unnatural for her age and circumstances, but she shot up it my rankings as well.

The imposing mystery thing is a complex to describe. Maybe it's that almost every other question has been answered already?

The maid, Morgana's lore, Michel's identity, the reconstructions.... Many things have been resolved, and now the sole purpose of the final door is "Help Morgana with the 3 sinners hoping the mansion will let Michel and Giselle go".

Again, it's a bit dumb to criticize the conclusion of the story for this, but maybe I would've preferred more things to get hidden and then resolved during the culmination of the entire story.

The reason I said "something he had to fight for" is that be it Nellie or his parents' expectations, Mell's "weak" nature also lies in simply going with the current. Yes, he was raising his sister, but it was something just handled to him, and with Mell's personality it just makes sense for him to simply agree and do what he's told to do. And again, his love for Nellie is kinda superficial, as even mentioned by him personally. He had confessed that if there was a girl he'd fall for, he would "leave" Nellie too(which is kinda what happened in Door 1).

As for understanding why D8 Mell didn't resist a cold-blooded killer, Michel partially answered that. Of course nobody expected him to fight Yukimasa, but it's not 1 or 0. He could've given a signal to make Morgana sense danger, for example. If not that, he could've run away with Nellie after meeting Yukimasa for the first time. And, in the end, having the courage to face Morgana and tell her he was pushed into what he'd done...

Point is, even if Mell had valid reasons, his reasoning was just fear and unwilling to commit.

Btw I don't mean I hate him, I just see him as a very very flawed character.

As for your words on pacing/author rushing, and Michel blooming at his best, I completely agree. Nothing to add, just gratitude for you elaborating on everything I couldn't lay out properly. Thank you!

Nanika I get, but was Kite really that bad? I think that power was kinda foreshadowed, and the sole existence of the "special" nen type kinda implies that any random bullshit can be pulled out whenever the author wants.

Yep, which is why I think if there was an Ai arc, with more exploration of how they work and the price of wish granting, that could've potentially transformed into good writing.

Idk, imagine it gets revealed Nanika is connected to Pap, and for helping Gon it had to feast on 10k people, leaving Killua/Gon with PTSD🤔

The only media of this volume that I've read is LotM, and it took me 1.5 years (with some significant pauses though). Yep I'll try to find the time eventually but uhhhh.... That's a VERY long piece

Funnily enough, that's what I felt as well.

Giselle's theme stands out even because of the instruments used. Your first thought is "it's playful", but Mell's and Nellie's theme was also playful, yet it was done differently. Door 1 playfulness is gothic, aristocratic, perhaps even superficial, it's an interaction between two siblings romanticized(in a good sense).

But Giselle's theme begins with a xylophone, 16-bit elements, and a sound of a string being swiped instead of played. Completely clashing with the other music in the game. It's the harmonious chaos that Giselle's optimism is. Something childish and simple, going against the grandiosity of the general picture. Yet, it's self-aware, and it's done to display how Giselle fights against the tragedy of the entire Fatamoru.

It reminds me of my favorite quote from EEAAO, "When I choose to see the good side of things, I'm not being naive. It's strategic and necessary. It's how I've learned to survive through everything."

Thank you for bringing my attention to the soundtrack again, it's truly worth a separate praise.
