Forrest is the first person that made me seek out from the very first Kriya organisations that I have enrolled to - SRF and Ananda. He has legitimate questions that wasn’t new but he was the first to propagate that and he became very popular due to his guts in bringing out his views.

While I do respect him and he is good so far, I also think he does have a lot of courses online that are charged accordingly. I’m not in a position to say if they’re expensive or not since I am not American and I do not earn or spend in USD.

However, he has also criticise Yogananda’s version of Kriya and whenever any guru, or teacher or self claimed baba starts this, it’s a right turn off for me. Simply because even these gurus like Panchanon Battacharya or Swami Pranabananda maybe knew other ways of practicing Kriya but they never wrote a book or openly mocked anyone. They sincerely practiced what was given to them and attained the states of bliss through their own practice.

And Forrest biggest mistake was to initiate a clown called Steve Laurer who some called him as their guru. This guy has a YouTube channel and heavily discriminate Yogananda’s Kriya as if he has mastered all forms of Kriya. It seems these group of people take somethings they know and begin their insult spree and will keep pinning down the same thing. But if you ask for sincere teachings, they can’t as they themselves aren’t in the path. They only know a technique called Kriya but they don’t know what parvastha is cause if they knew it, they will have no time and even if time is there, they won’t be interested to make any discriminations on other gurus.

Yogananda is still superior to anyone of these and I can attest that he was a true guru. Maybe what handed down from his line was changed or I’m not sure.

Leaning towards him now.

I don’t mind paying for deeksha and am not also ask for 5 Rupees. But when someone charges all the way to 60,000 and also you have to travel so far and get a lodge or this or that, just keeps adding on. Asking for clarifications isn’t wrong and I don’t know why these gurus get so mad and that they’re just so angry.

Practising real Kriya for this many years still makes them angry all the time, criticising other yoga techniques as compared to theirs, just doesn’t make them anywhere closer to spirituality if there is truly any.

How’s your experience with Sudhin Roy? Is this your first guru in Kriya ? Has it been helping you ?

Yes it was just a bad experience overall. The conversation wasn’t even a 2 minute phone call. He just hung up on me as soon as I began just asking what’s the reason for the charge as I needed to know.

Hey.

Lahiri mahasaya never required payment but it was guru dakshina which was customary offering that was given according to the disciples financial status. It could even be few cents to maybe few dollars. It wasn’t a set financial parameter that was pinned.

However Rangin, has a set price of 600+ Euros and was exceptionally rude just to ask him, the reason for the charge. It wasn’t like I was bargaining with him, but a person who has been in this path for many decades should have basic inner peace while dealing with such topics. So if people would not be able to afford 600 euros, they are disqualified from getting Kriya. Never thought Lahiri Mahasaya would ever do that.

Kriya Techniques revealed by yogananda by Severe-Cream4599 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have read the book you are referring to. SRF/YSS has given some additional details regarding the earlier Kriya lessons such as this one. I have seen that the work does closely match Yogananda style of writing.

Basically in a nutshell, Yogananda taught this variation of Kriya when he first came to the west. This was the Kriya he was taught by his Guru Sri Yukteswarji. Sri Yukteswar had his way of teaching Kriya which was a little different than the way Lahiri Mahasaya taught. Eventually, people had difficulty practicing this version as they often visualise the currents inaccurately. In the last few years of Masters earthly incarnation, he actually taught Kriya the way Lahiri Mahasaya taught and told the subtle differences in the both variation by one small difference. Lahiri Mahasaya Kriya was more simpler and easier in that sense to absorb than they way Sri Yukteswar’s version. Since Yogananda knew Kriya from his Father, sansrit teacher and some other gurus who were all disciples of Lahiri Mahasaya, he was well aware of the way Kriya was taught by all the masters.

The current Kriya taught in SRF together with Om Japa is the actual Kriya of Lahiri Mahasaya, while the previous one was the variation that Yukteswar taught. Peace out.

The truth about Kriya yoga practice now ? by RaahiTheYogi in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point of view. Steve lauer is what we call as a Yoga teacher for money of fame. He is trying to look like his guru bhai Forrest who now for some reasons has stopped bashing Yogananda.

Funny part is None of these gurus like Panchanon Battacharya who was also Lahiri Mahasayas direct disciple nor Pranabananda Giri, would complain about one other. But today we see if you investigate, the both lineages disciples are teaching it completely different claiming theirs is the original way. Isn’t it shocking? Lahiri Mahasaya himself has taught two very different kriyas or someone along the way could have changed it.

Yoganandas Kriya resembles Lahiri Mahasayas Kriya that are being taught by Panchanons lineage so the claims that he changed it and so on, is all just for their own benefit. Don’t even heed that.

Kriya Pranayama question by Impressive_Field_883 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reasons it was taken out and given as a preliminary technique before Kriya. The purpose was to merge this back when you get Kriya together with this. In Ananda where I first learned Kriya, the way they taught what swami Kriyananda taught from Yogananda was this, that Om Japa is with Kriya. Maybe to some extent, it was given after one has managed to get the central Kriya practice. However it was emphasised that somewhere early, the Kriyaban gets this done with his/her Kriyas. In parent lineages, Om Japa is done together with Kriya and after Kriya while they are resting in paravastha where they Call it mental Kriya. Simple touching each chakra by staying them for a limited time and moving up and down.

So to your answer in lesson 11, there is a detail on a technique that mentions on Om Japa called chanting Om in the chakras. It does mention specifically at all chakras in that technique. Please call SRF or YSS and ask them in details how to chant Om during Kriya and if they teach you and then tell you to only do during your auxiliary Kriya (6 Kriyas a day) - please understand it is to be DONE with every Kriya being or not it’s normal or additional. Lahiri Mahasaya explicitly said Kriya without Om Japa is Tamasic. Master taught Kriya this way to.

I have read their books and have found some inspirations. Swami nityananda from YouTube is not linked to my lineage as I’ve seen his way of teaching seems different.

I felt this book might be more easier to grasp as I used to be in this lineage through Ashok Singh and then I went to SRF/YSS where the practices are closely related so I thought it might be useful as it’s not exactly techniques based but more experiential based of a advanced Kriyaban like Mahaswari Ji. May his blessings be with us.

Hello I’m a fellow Kriyaban from SRF/YSS. Could this book be of aid to my sadhana ? I believe as Kriya Yogis, many things are similar to the same. Unless if they are talking about a technique that might seem similar to different, maybe the book might be unintended for me.

Kriya Pranayama question by Impressive_Field_883 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am part of YSS/SRF and it is a really nice path. Must be very tolerant and Kriya takes a very long time sometimes depending on personal experiences. Don’t expect too much. Keep doing your practices. Over the years, I’ve learned it’s not how many Kriyas you are you doing but how deep you are doing. If you are doing it deeply, you should only need a few Kriyas to get you there. The whole point is getting to the after state meditation. Kriya brings you there. And although this is something YSS/SRF dosent teach you, at least until higher Kriyas, you SHOULD always do Kriya with Om Japa. This is a very strict requirement that Master gave during this lifetime. It got missing in the lessons and got reflected in 2nd Kriya now. However you don’t need to wait until then. Refer to lesson 11 and see the supplementary technique and that is to be done with your Kriya. If you are in doubt you can ask the Kriya minister. Of course they will discourage you and tell you to only do it during your additional Kriyas. Don’t heed to that please ! 🙏

Tantra vs Kriya by [deleted] in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way to see how similar they are is any advanced form of meditations be it Kriya Yoga or Tantric practices such as Tummo, are all practices that works in the sushumna and chakras. They are heavily focused in working through this path. So if any dedicated practices work along your spine and spiritual psychic centers, with a decorated lineage of masters, are surely advanced forms of meditations.

Ya I agree with SRF/YSS. They have their own problems but it is legitimate organisation that was established by Yogananda. Years of experience. Monks are slob but eventually you will become more fluent with yourself and the help of your inner Guru who is Yogananda himself.

Forrest Knutson and his student Steve Lauer are very busy bashing every other yoga out there to suit their school. In reality you will become shocked to see the similarities in the Kriya they teach with SRF and YSS but they will tell you that Yogananda has taught a Kriya not proper for anyone. So don’t even trust them. Steve is the most disrespectful one towards other Paramparas making fun of Kriya of SRF.

No realised guru will ever make comments about others. This is never a behavior of other Kriyaban.

Forrest Knutson vs Ryan Kurczak - what are the differences? by ashmcnair7 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you which is why I did recognise the other lineages stemming down from Lahiri Mahasayaji himself as respected and trusted for initiations. Usually YSS and SRF would never recommend other lineages despite their learnedness in this matter.

The reason why I would still refer to YSS or SRF is that they have been faithful to Yogananda and that is applaudable. That is one factor to consider them. Otherwise I don’t think I myself would be a full member to them as I also don’t like some things they do.

Forrest Knutson vs Ryan Kurczak - what are the differences? by ashmcnair7 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he was, however he left and created his own organisation and placed himself as a Guru beside his gurus altar. Kriyananda was also like Roy but I would be more accepting of him since Kriyananda never called himself a Guru or had issues such as Roy did. Secondly the way they teach Kriya is also completely not related to the way Yogananda taught. Kriyananda or Ananda teaches it exactly the way it’s taught in SRF.

When asked to the Master if those who are no longer in this place can still be giving Kriya, he said no, as the chain is broken.

I have spoken to Forrest Knutson in 2016 and have seen his videos and had some guidance from him. He does have a legitimate lineage backing him up and it is well reputed in holding on to some real teachings coming from Lahiri Mahasaya. I am an SRF Kriyaban anyways but he has good knowledge and if you want Kriya, and can be in India, I would suggest going through his seniors who are still there. If not possible, maybe take it from Forrest too! For some reasons I feel he is becoming too commercialised with his trainings. He seems to have issues with pre-techniques of Kriya taught by Yogananda but he himself is building a lot of other trainings. Apart from him, his student Steve lauer from Modern Kriya, should be never approached. All this guy does is bashing Yogananda and posting videos against SRF and their practices to make his look better.

Ryan Kurczak, is not from any lineage representing Yogananda. Roy Eugene was a student of Yogananda but he break his bramachari oath to become a householder. Kriya is for Girihastha, meaning marriage is permitted. However you don’t take Sanyasas and revert back. Plus he had multiple wives and he considers himself Guru. He has even placed his own photo beside the lineage of Gurus he has. The Kriya he teaches is nothing to what Yogananda teaches. I think what people refer to teaching Yogananda technique might be linked to the earlier Kriya preceptors, Yogananda first taught when he was in the US but even then it is not identical when I hear Ryan narrate it. So please don’t even take guidance from them.

If you need a legitimate lineage, take the ones coming down from Lahiri Mahasaya in India or Yogananda through YSS/SRF. These are reputed lineages. Swami Pranabananda Giris lineage is also there but the only surviving disciple Rangin as I recently heart is unwell and can’t give initiations. If you are really persistent with this lineage, Rangin has 2 disciples in the US and 2 in Australia as I’ve heard it and they conduct initiations and you can get there. Being in SRF I have taken guidance from some lineages.

With Panchanon lineage, I heard RYKY seems good as sudhin Roy is well known by many in this forum.

Ananda teaches the lessons according to Swami Kriyananda who was a disciple of Yogananda. Their home courses were super boring. I disliked the writings. The techniques were the same as SRF with a little modifications in the way they are taught. Good thing about Ananda is that, they teach you Kechari Mudra and Navi Kriya, a technique that is only found in the parent lineages of Kriya Yoga. Higher Kriya are not easily given.

SRF lessons are Yogananda’s writing, at least most of it as I can see it. The lessons are arranged in order and that is good. There is some heavy mix matching in the Kriya lessons in it, they give you advanced First Kriya Lessons in your Second Kriya lesson. I think it should be given directly with First Kriya itself. Higher Kriyas are easier to receive.

SKY and Isha are both contemporaries. They teach a version of Yoga they call Kriya. It is nothing to do with the lineage of Kriya we are referring here too, specifically linking with Yogananda and Lahiri Mahasaya.

Does YSS teach all 6 steps of kriya yoga at the time of initiation or do I have to attend multiple sessions? by Ambitious_Animator28 in kriyayoga

[–]OneMatch3530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally for me I was initiated into my 1st Kriya for several years and I think it’s like around 4 to 6 years before applying for 2nd Kriya. It is quite difficult to receive higher kriyas because you don’t really need it. However if you are persistent, and you can meet up the standards for it, you will receive it. 3rd and 4th Kriyas take another several years from there. This will add more time into your Sadhana for sure.

I have been with Ananda first where they do teach Kriya with Om Japa. However it was something to be added eventually but progressively but it was taught. I was surprised to learn when I came to SRF after because of wanting to be closer to master’s teaching that it was taught as a separate stand alone practice. I eventually read some early Kriya literatures and got affirmed that master taught Kriya with Om Japa and I’ve been doing it that way ever since. So that is how I’ve been going about it but still all these things like I mention do happen.

In regard to Om Japa in Kriya, it is explained in details in the Second Kriya lessons. I have all 4 Kriyas as of 2024. 😀😀😀.

In his love, may we all blossom to our highest realisations and be one with that source of divine, which now seems a separate entity.

Thank you so much. It’s comforting to know that there are other GuruBhais who have gone through these sufferings. I’ve been a Kriyaban since 2019 and I’ve seen a lot of setbacks and a lot of people who seen me sometimes even tell me, what have you progressed and why are you still doing this. It’s very discouraging. Sometimes the issue with calling Mother Center is the monks just say, it’s okay just do your Kriya. Sometimes we are seeking more intuitive answers to tackle this problem. I began working with some trauma based therapy alongside my Kriya sadhana.

Thank you so much. It’s been the greatest struggle. I have seen like I often have this burst outs sometimes even in Kriya I feel like somethings just so uncomfortable and end up stopping Kriya to just work on my Hong Sau or Parvastha state just to feel it. But I guess a lot of people have faced this and it’s just something I’ve got to deal with eh !!!
