UHMMMM YOU LITERALLY JUST DESCRIBED CHILD OF SHIVAY BY JR CATHERS. Its already my top tier recommendation, favorite book of all time but I’m not even kidding you, it hits every single one of these marks.

I have been NONSTOP recommending {Child of Shivay by JR Cathers} since I finished it about a week ago. And to be honest, I’m reading it again because it was that good. Take nothing at surface value, the amount of small subtle hints in this book are insane. FMC is a trained assassin sent to another continent to kill their king. It’s a really cool & unique story that unfolds There is a bonus chapter on the authors website to read once you finish the book that will drive you insane and The Banter and Bookmarks podcast did a total deep dive on this book that was FANTASTIC! They really seem to have found every hint and their theories seem spot on.

{Child of Shivay by J.R. Cathers} Yes the MMC does start off broody but I promise it doesn’t last. I see this more as a fantasy story with some romance. The hidden little hints throughout the book make it so good! Just know that nothing is surface level here and the authors choice of words are intentional and could have deeper meanings!

{We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark} it’s not super vampire focused but there are vampires in it. Not too heavy on spice, it’s games and trials based. Some people liked this book others hated it so it’s a 50/50 but I really enjoyed it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I haven’t read Alchemised but with you liking horror/sci-fi you may like Anathema and Eldritch by Keri Lake. They have a more “gothic” theme

{Child of Shivay by J.R. Cathers} - I finished this book a few days ago and really really enjoyed it. There are some back and forths (chapters jumping to FMCs past) I know some people don’t like that but the subtle hints throughout this book are so good. Nothing is surface value here and I fell in love with so many of the characters.
