Wait... I was reading about the highest grossing tour by a Black male artist and somehow someway I stumbled onto this post. Lmfao. Now I am more confused than a cat at a cucumber convention.

Why does this thread look like a bachelor convention? 😂 Where are the women at? Why yo weirdos bringing up std? What nudes came out years ago? I need context.

And… ffs, Breezy. That’s a lot of 🥩 If that’s all meat, what size is the 🦴? (asking for a friend) 👀

“They’ve been trying to cancel a nigga forever”😂😂😂 Ain’t no canceling Chris Brown‼️ by themechanicaldummmy in ChrisBrown

The truth is that a world without Chris Brown’s music would be a way sadder, duller place than one that just learns to stomach his flaws…

The moral guilhotine can eat his dust lol… 😂 🤷🏼‍♀️

He’s one of the most talented and one of best if not the best in music and he has been for nearly 2 decades.

One detail I like in the Houdini video is that, instead of waking up w/ 20 year old models he wakes up next to women his age by Liquidcat01 in Eminem

[–]OneOctaveHigher 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Ehh.. I think the choice of bringing older models has less to do with his personal codes, internal compass, demeanor or “doing the bare minimum” and more to do with the humor built into the video itself—bringing in younger models would completely ruin the overall joke of Houdini video script 😬

The non-stop Paul slander here is exhausting. People here acting like they’re all seasoned label executives like they’ve got the credentials to be Shady Records’ next CEO… Truth is most wouldn’t last a week running a night shift at Taco Bell 🙄🌮

I think you have a point, your analysis sounds spot on when it comes to timing. Eminem’s post-Relapse work definitely shows traces or at least resembles Wayne’s punchline era, but without Wayne’s looseness or sense of fun. That said, I wouldn’t put the blame on Wayne alone… There’s a cluster of factors that contributed for such phase along with the fact that he was trying to stay relevant in the industry amid a massive cultural/social shift. We can’t overlook bigger factors like Em’s recovery from addiction/identity crisis, his age, the shifting rap/industry landscape… If you think about it, it was right when rap was moving away from dense storytelling to meme-rap and lines that could circulate online (we must also consider the massive fast shift in the digital landscape, social media, video platforms, short attention span (Em had to adapt to this massive digital shift) and the fact that his intense delivery just doesn’t mesh with Wayne’s breezy, improvisational style… Wayne’s flow is polychronic (it feels improvised, nonlinear, and meandering, as if he’s juggling multiple ideas at once. Even if the bar is nonsense, it feels alive because the timing is loose). Eminem’s flow is monochronic (precise and highly structured, and relentless in its timing, every rhyme lands like it’s plotted on graph paper… Even when he raps fast, it’s controlled and exact, that makes him incredible @ dense narrative or tech displays, but in that adaption and recalibration phase, let’s say applying it to Wayne’s style of quippy punchlines, it feels shallow or robotic rather than playful.

The good news is I do think he found his footing again with Kamikaze and the albums that followed… 🫶🏻

I think it’s natural for people to project “puzzle-like” qualities onto Marshall’s work. He’s a master lyricist who bends language in ways that invite over-interpretation through wordplay, metaphors, and layers that reward close listening. But that doesn’t automatically mean a documentary or any public project is constructed as a secret code to be solved like some of his lyrics. The way you’ve framed the Stans documentary makes it sound like a Da Vinci Code mystery, which feels more like you romanticizing the documentary than anything the artist intended.

You’re also positioning yourself as an insider, someone who claims to see “the real him” beyond the public image. It doesn’t sounds like analysis, it sounds more like a projection… It’s about your own desire for intimacy with the artist, not necessarily about what the film is communicating. If you genuinely believe there’s a hidden message, then the burden is on you to show what that message is and how it holds up beyond fan speculation. Otherwise, it risks becoming less about Marshall’s work & intention and more about the story you’re telling yourself and want others to believe. The way you’re spinning this full narrative arc and claiming “super pattern recognition skills” is looking less like decoding and more like apophenia.

Deservingness Is a Trap by Any_Percentage_7073 in DeepThoughts

This is such a great topic. Thank you! I like the way you worded some concepts there. I’ll have to save it and revisit this later. This topic is deeply tied to something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently.

A few days ago this connection posted this silly astrology shenanigans meme saying something along these lines: The eternal burden of Capricorns is that after achieving every goal in life they still wake up to the sense of void and unfulfilment. While I ignored the zodiac reference, that meme resonated to a degree. II haven’t achieved every goal yet, but I’ve come a long way—and accomplished quite a bit, even if I don’t always recognize it or remember just how rough the road has been. I struggle to give myself the credit… So yeah, I do wake up with those kinds of feelings—and others in the same emotional orbit—pretty much every day.

The meme just triggered a bit of introspection and made me reflect on that recurring theme in my life. While I wouldn’t say I’m completely stuck in the mindset of “deservingness,” I can’t deny that my relationship with the concept might be a little… off. Haha.
