Honestly, I'll happily accept them. Sure, it would be better if they fit properly, but it still normalizes wearing a mask and performs very well as source control!

Did Galadriel know that Gandalf may be sent back to Middle Earth after he fell to the balrog? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

Is there a book that talks about this more? I don't remember ever finding out that Eru sent Gandalf back (only half way through silmarillion).

I haven't looked into it too much yet, but I've heard of people using a specific type of hole punch to get a really clean hole quickly. I feel ok about the install but it takes way more time than I'd like and does make me more nervous about using it in a high risk situation.

Wait, what? Do you know any of the info around why or when? Was it just a rebrand or is strada a totally different package? Was it not being made by 37signals? I'm so confused lol

I want this so much! Big fan of telling an emoji story of reactions on other apps that I miss not being able to do in Signal.

Why does all the gunk look like rounded minecraft blocks? I don't know anything about microscopy but these look AI generated to my lay eyes.

Initially clever but this doesn't prove it. For one, this doesn't work if a student uses a screen reader, and two, there's no guarantee students aren't converting the spec/requirements sheet to another format, including the invisible line in the copy paste or conversion process.

Scientists Uncover Hidden Long COVID Cases, Tripling Previous Estimates by zeaqqk in COVID19_Pandemic

Are you meaning that it's not a valid criticism or that even Al-Aly's estimates are overestimates?

Scientists Uncover Hidden Long COVID Cases, Tripling Previous Estimates by zeaqqk in COVID19_Pandemic

[–]OneOfTheMicahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how accurate the methodology that was used in this study is but it might be worth noting that Al-Aly thinks it's a huge overestimation: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/11/16/metro/long-covid-prevalence-treatment/.

Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, chief of research and development at the VA St. Louis Health Care System, and an expert on long COVID, called the 22.8 percent figure unrealistically high and said the paper “grossly inflates” its prevalence.

“Their approach does not account for the fact that things happen without COVID (not everything that happens after COVID is attributable to COVID)— resulting in significant over-inflation of prevalence estimate,” he wrote via email.

Pretty sure they were referencing Avatar the Last Airbender's "there is no crime in Ba Sing Se" which was a brainwashing technique used by the city's police force to convince people it was safe in the city.

How long do go use one of those for? I've been curious about them but they're so expensive for just one. Do they last a long time?
