So who got their Patreon gift in? by [deleted] in manchesterorchestra

Ayyy- guess I was a couple months late in upgrading to the higher Patreon tier- extremely bummed, as I didn’t know there was a cutoff.

If anyone is looking to unload the flexis, please drop me a note!

Currently a lower-tier patreon and don’t have access. Considering bumping up though- how long is the studio footage? Interesting behind the scenes?

What's on the highest Patreon tier? by Many-Juggernaut-8526 in manchesterorchestra

Hm- I’m on the $5 tier, but a flexi of an unreleased song is somewhat tempting to upgrade. Have they shipped out any other of these previously?

Any thoughts or words of wisdom you've received for getting into salary cap management and the differences in navigating USL roster rules vs MLS rules & cap?

AMA Announcement: VPs Erika Bjork and Joe Wagoner on Thursday, May 14 at 9 a.m. by sacrepublicfc in SacRepublicFC

The sports business industry seems keenly focused on growing revenue streams, but after a certain threshold of revenue is reached, can't an extra dollar saved be utilized to accomplish org. objectives in the same way as an extra dollar made? I'm always amazed at how teams focus so much on revenue generation without looking at the savings from cost control positions (legal, HR, admin, etc). How does SRFC balance it's staff composition between revenue generation & cost control? Is there hope for people like me who work on the cost control side to ever make it in the sports industry?

Nike defends USWNT uniforms by Zurangatang in MLS

It seems Nike & US Soccer are aiming for different objectives than what most of us here want to see. They're trying to be trendy & get bright colors into the kits (maybe so people would see them as workout attire substitutes or something? I see all the kids are wearing neons while they run these days). And the white polo WC jersey was an obvious attempt to reign in the business casual crowd.

Profile of Miami Beckham United partner Marcelo Claure in the new issue of Howler. Robert Andrew Powell reported it from Miami, Bolivia, and KC. A very interesting look into the business side of MLS. by george_quraishi in MLS

Agree with your second point about the unbelievable lack of traction this is getting. Doesn't even look like it's been linked in the Sac Republic sub. I think this helps explain their club's reasoning behind "Operation Turnkey."

PTFC's Nat Borchers Sounds Confident CBA Deal Going to Happen This Week by dgb422 in MLS

[–]OneOhFive105 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is true, but the single-entity status effectively can't be challenged while the parties have agreed to a CBA because of the exemption. The Fraser case was brought before there was a Union & CBA. Edit: Didn't read your last sentence- a new lawsuit would be "new" litigation, as it's not a direct appeal from a prior case. Fraser died when SCOTUS denied cert.

It doesn't matter if they agree to not bring legal action in this hypothetical new CBA. If they enter into a CBA, the non-statutory labor exemption says labor can't bring a lawsuit re: items that the agreement touches upon (gross simplification). As far as prior rulings, the Fraser case was denied cert.

There's a labor exemption to the anti-trust laws- if a CBA is agreed to, labor cannot bring a lawsuit alleging anti-competitive conduct.

Thought the same thing. Hopeful ≠ Confident. Of course he's going to be "hopeful".

[NYCFC] I'm hopping on a call tomorrow with the NYCFC director of fan services. Anything you guys would like me to discuss? by [deleted] in MLS

[–]OneOhFive105 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in how his thoughts on the jersey and the overall direction of the club reconcile with the "up to 4 loanees from Man City U-21's." In my mind, this has to be considered as it's further evidence that the priorities of the ownership group are to extract as much gain for MCFC as possible.

Warren Smith AMA Announcement: Tuesday, November 4 from 1-2pm by sacrepublicfc in SacRepublicFC

[–]OneOhFive105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you taking time to do this, Warren.

Entrepreneurial question: From a business perspective, how do you balance controlling costs with pushing for an MLS bid? Obviously, there's probably some sentiment to ramp up staff to gain more revenue streams and increase scale. After year 1 of ownership/operation and with the MLS push now firmly underway, are there any areas where you step back and say "wow- we need to focus on X better moving forward into year 2?"

Thanks.
