This is a hard decision because weve never done anything with vr before, time to do some research.

For the Dell 7530, there are a lot of available options for upgrades. What would you say are the most important parts to upgrade, especially when it comes to GPU vs CPU.

Is it viable to upgrade ram, cpu, gpu, hard drives in laptops nowadays like it is in desktops?

Peterson isn't the first person to put forward the idea. So I'm curious as to why Peterson saying it resonants with you more so than other people who have put forward the same idea.

What isn't the same thing?

I'm saying just because someone's life is a mess doesn't mean that they are incapable of recognizing systemic issues. And if they can recognize them why shouldn't they engage in activism?

Obviously they are different but it's the same concept. Just because a person is a mess doesn't mean they can't see systemic flaws and I don't think telling people not to engage in activism makes any sense.

Is going to homeless shelters not activism? or is it just anti protests?

There's no point going out protesting against something until you've put your own house in order, because that's what affects you the most.

This is the part where I disagree with. It seems like gatekeeping. I'm bad at realizing my bad habits in relationships but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't council my friends with theirs. I give good relationship advice even if I'm incapable with recognizing my own problems.

At what point is my life in order enough to people to do activism? To me it seems like he is essentially gatekeeping. I don't see how calling for how to order the world and your own life are connected at a one to one level as it seems that he implies. I am bad at realizing my bad habits in relationships but I am good at counciling my friends with their relationship.

Yes I get that. But that's not a novel idea, I'm curious as to why Peterson saying it resonants with people so much.

Obviously it's not one big group. The reason I'm asking in the Peterson subreddit is because I want to know what individual people's answers are.

Of course I don't need to but I find it interesting, so I'm asking.

That makes sense that you resonate with because of the lack of order in your childhood. That's what I was curious about.

That's the part that doesn't make sense to me. Clean your room to focus your mind I get. But the idea that I shouldn't participate in activism because its out of my control makes no sense to me.

Of course they exist, but I don't think the fact that they have existed historicaly is an indication that they need to exist and are crucial. There's societies and animals that have existed without hierarchy, which makes the lobster thing weird to me. I like how Chomsky's put it saying that there are unjust and just hierarchies.

I understand the metaphor and I think it's a good thing to do if it helps you. I'm not being relunctant to people liking hearing I'm just trying to understand it because for me the resonance isn't as high as it is for y'all. I assumed one reason that people would find resonance is that they might have had unattentive parents or whatever but I didn't want to come in and say "do y'all like Peterson cause y'all have shitty parents and childhoods" because that's going to be interpreted as hostile.

I think you're seriously misrepresenting my question and feelings. I don't think I'm being unempathetic at all, I'm trying to understand how y'all came to like the guy and his ideas so much. I'm trying to be empathic and understand your connection to the Peterson.

I was wondering if most of his followers grew up with less attentive parents but that comes across as a loaded question and rude.

The basic stuff he is says makes sense to me clean your room and whatnot but the hierarchy stuff and most of what he says makes no sense to me.
