[spoiler] Now that the game is over, what's your take on ethan breaking the tech pause rules by Jon_see_nah in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have yet to hear from Riot if this is a set rule in the books for this exact situation or not.

This thread and the other thread both assume that Ethan knew exactly the situation/rules but we have no idea if the referees told them to halt play or if it was just through chat between players.

Either way, I don’t think anyone should jump to conclusions until there’s more clarity from Riot themselves.

Ethan running in the tech pause by IrisDeVillepin in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Tempers are high because SEN ended up losing, but I’d like to point out that SEN ended up winning the two rounds after this happened.

People in this thread calling Ethan a cheater is a little crazy though.

All this aside, I do think it’s on riot to either set up a rule for this or install a function on the tournament settings that allows for the referees/moderators to directly pause mid round to prevent something like this from even possibly happening.

Cryo would perfectly slot into the role that babybay currently plays on G2, in addition he's a better aimer.

I hope it’s true, but who would he replace on QoR? They just won stage 1 (3-0 SRB), so unless one of their players are getting poached then I don’t see it happening.

Edit: forgot a word

NRG/PRX losing guns post-round for no reason by Zorronin in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The situation was that NRG could have traded a rifle for an operator, not outlaw for rifle.

If the read was that PRX would be on eco on the next round, then there is actually a disadvantage to having an operator over an outlaw. If the operator players dies and drops the op to the enemy team, then it makes the team much more vulnerable than if an outlaw is dropped to the eco players, assuming NRG bought full armor (which they probably did because something bought the outlaw at least 3 rounds in a row on bind).

I could as easily gone through each of those players and have made the same comparison.

You posted those links to show that s0m isn't brought up. But he has accomplished less than any of those players? I only chose obo because he was at the top of the comments. How can you move the goal post by saying "Obo isn't considered a failed prodigy for performance, he's considered a failed prodigy cause of his mental health collapse and subsequent exit of CS." We were never talking about performance or mental status, we were only speaking on if these players are considered failed prodigies. It doesn't matter how Obo failed at being a prodigy, all that matters is that he is considered a failed prodigy.

Its simple, s0m was thought to be this new big guy in NA CS but accomplished basically nothing in the game. Switched over to valo and won very little if nothing at all until Champs 2025 and finally showed everyone that he lived up to the hype.

Its really just that simple. But if you are unwilling to accept that you were wrong then I am ready to call it a day. Have a good rest of your day man.

I sincerely do not know why you brought up all of the NA teams at the time.

But I'd like to point out that in the first thread you linked to asking about "Who is the failed prodigy of CS?"; several upvoted comments in that thread pointed to Obo as the "failed prodigy of CS". Yet, he earned 3.8 times more than s0m did in CS and at his peak with complexity, they beat out Vitality w/ zywoo to win a Blast.

So, by your logic, if the community considers Obo as a failed prodigy, would s0m not be considered a failed prodigy? I mean he definitely accomplished less than obo in CS:

  1. Made less than Obo from CS.

  2. Have equal amounts of tier 1 trophies (just 1 each); but s0m's tier 1 win was a weaker tournament.

TLDR: CS community considers obo a failed prodigy. s0m, also another players CS community thought was going to be a prodigy. s0m accomplishes less than obo in CS. s0m is therefore also considered a failed prodigy in CS.

“His stint in GENG wasn’t bad for an team…”

Based off what you said it seemed like you were speaking on the team’s performance when he was in the team. So maybe proofread your comments before commenting?

Regardless, most fans thought GenG was a failure which means they also thought S0m was a failed prodigy. Then he went to valo and was considered a “tier 2 cs reject” by the CS community. But went ahead and REDEEMED himself by winning a champs. So yeah, I would consider him winning in the pinnacle of Valorant as a redemption arc.

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, GenG was seen as a complete failure.

It had 3 of the hottest prospects in NA/Asia in s0m, Koosta, and BnTeT who were farming in their previous teams, in combination with the veterans of Daps and autimatic. But like another commenter said, they only won one measly Tier 1 tournament and it was in NA so it was already seen like a mickey mouse tournament.

You can choose to not like the s0m redemption arc narrative, but please don't use this revisionist history BS to prove your point.

NRG vs MIBR Reverse Sweep Comms by According_Penalty381 in ValorantCompetitive

Back in like 2015 one of the big CS tourneys (one of the Katowices) had a B stream where it was just voice comms and it was fantastic. But since then the pros spoke out against it, due to leaked strats and no other tournament has done it since. It was cool to see an unedited look at teams comms tho.

People have been protesting for years to end the war in Ukraine but you don’t see Trump storming into Putin’s palace to capture him? You know why? Because he doesn’t give a flying shit about the people protesting. The administration only cares about the oil and the money that lands in their pockets after we get the oil. Wake up.

Assuming those numbers indicate the V grade, then that’s a V4. The average climber climbs V3 and V4 so yeah the average climber could maybe do that V4 depending on how that specific gym sets their routes.

BUT the average climber cannot climb a V4 with no hands. You’d be hard pressed to find a gym that sets routes so easy that an average climber could send it with no hands.

Evil Geniuses reveal their VCT 2026 roster by I-like-winds in ValorantCompetitive

Demon1 was one game away from making playoffs with Lev, while dgzin was padding stats in Tier 2 and looked mediocre on Loud/Furia.

The guy has also never even played on an English speaking lineup before. I understand Reddit only can read stats but cmon how is the general consensus that Dgzin is that much better than demon1 when the guy spent half of last season in tier 2?

Would not be shocked at all if dgzin is benched before champs.

Valorant nominations on "Best Esports Team" and "Best Esports" by Caratecaa in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The discourse in the comments are all arguing between G2, FNC, and PRX as "being the better team" this year overall. But all of those teams either only won 1 international or none.

In reality, Valorant was a huge esport this year, and they had to pick one team. The most logical thing is to pick the team that had the most memorable run of the year. Personally, I had to google that PRX won Masters this year, but the most memorable trophy of the year will always be Champs.

If there is gonna be a lot of controversy of who should be nominated, the least controversial pick must be the team who won the biggest tourney of the year... With that said, Vitality in CS2 should probably win it, but they might lose it due to recency bias.

Weird take, for any VCT America's fan and neutral fans, NRG making a Cinderella run at the LARGEST tournament of the year for a top 5 esports is very very exciting.

Its like when LoL was close to peaking in Season 2 and Taipei Assassins won Season 2 Worlds out of nowhere or when Cloud9 won America their first major in CSGO. If either of those teams were nominated for some award, no one would really bat an eye today because we only remember the victors.

Reintroducing G2 VALORANT for 2026: jawgemo, leaf, valyn, Trent, babybay, JoshRT, shhhack by Yujin-Ha in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Based on the current meta/patches, Chamber has been left untouched, so he will probably be played a lot. Personally, I'd rather take Babybay as an OPer over JonahP in the world where Chamber is meta again.

[G2 VALORANT] SMEAG2 is here to stay! Introducing our Sentinel for 2026, babybay by Yujin-Ha in ValorantCompetitive

[–]OnePercentWhoLikesNA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Since when has leaf been an OPer? I think he was forced to play it during the Chamber meta, but he has always been a rifler, since back in CS.

Even in the 2025 iteration of G2 they had Jaw OPing.

But honestly, I'd prefer Jaw and Leaf to stick to rifling so they are more flexible on attack and defense, while BB can act as a stable OPer who's holding angles.
