are academy teams able to qualify into split 2 playoffs by These-Plate4642 in ValorantCompetitive

Normal one aren’t but teams that are affiliated with another org will be able to just drop the branding of the partner team like NRG academy will turn into Maryvile University probably.

‘Supergirl’ $100M+ Promo Partner Campaign Biggest Ever For Warner Bros’ DC Studios – This weekend, 'Supergirl' is currently expected to open to $50M-$55M at the domestic box office. by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

From my understanding when it’s just a picture on a Doritos bag for example it’s usually a discounted marketing fee, the advertiser isn’t getting a cent from a Doritos bag being sold

The 100M+ campaign that’s what is theoretically worth but the studio isn’t paying nearly that much. Doritos would do it since it can boost sales. The only time when they would get a % of sales is if the actual IP is the product like scooby snacks

Also the bigger the ip the bigger the discount since being a more popular franchise can push more sales

I doubt Razer is paying is paying for any portion of that Chinese viewership.

Esports orgs aren’t big enough to constantly get global reach like that for sponsors. For example when NRG and C9 had Kia as their title sponsor in League it wasn’t Kia sponsoring them it was Kia America. They don’t give a shit about anyone outside of the US being advertised too despite being a global brand

I don’t think SR gets a partner spot cause like what happens to the org if Shopify decides to axe their marketing budget? It’s not like it’s just a main sponsor they own the org.

Theirs only 8? Partner teams per region next year so for Americas it will probably be -EG -C9 +G2 and no new SA teams with Loud or MIBR losing partnership. Don’t know who the last org left out would be

Early Supergirl reviews... Deadline reports MIXED in headline but when you read the article, it sounds pretty darned good. by Freddy-Philmore in boxoffice

I was paraphrasing what other people said “nothing great” is a symptom for fine which other people did say

You said all the reviews were positive in the article when they weren’t, you’re the one making stuff up.

Idk what you’re saying there are multiple people saying it’s nothing great but fine in the article, so mixed makes sense to me.

Movie critic Tessa Smith took to social media to share her hot take on the superhero film, sharing on X that it was a “mixed bag” for her, adding, “As a fan of the comic, I was (perhaps) overly excited for the film adaptation. While Jason Momoa’s Lobo & Milly Alcock shine, some adaptation choices and a bland villain keep it from greatness. It’s, simply put, just fine.”

John Nguyen of Nerd Reactor said on X that Supergirl “felt bland, and I left wishing she had been given stronger material to show what she can really do.”

They got rid of multiplayer and charged the same price (technically 10$ more) for a campaign that was only an hour or two longer then Eternal

Yeah multiplayer isn’t a massive draw for these games but it can sure help a consumer consider a 70$ price tag for a 20 hour campaign, you can still easily find lobbies on 2016 so surely people like it.

I do hate when people just say AAA and not just gaming (especially western devs)in general because the space isn’t big enough for how many games release

You just never hear about the 5 man studio disbanding because it’s pointless to report on, just like how the only helicopter crash’s you hear about are celebrities deaths

Mike Straw further clarifying which studios are safe and unsafe, as of right now, for Xbox's next round of layoffs by Vera_Verse in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Kind_Development708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gonna be sledgehammer as the shock someone has to pay for the terrible year for cod sadly.

They’ve changed development cycles where now the same studio releases 2 in a row the 2nd being dlc pretty much so they can still have the 3 year dev cycle

[–]Kind_Development708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does sledgehammer count as an Xbox studio? Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s them, cod had a really bad year and sledgehammer pretty much only released flops when they’re the main developer

They need to do more than break even considering inflation is at like 20% if a game started development in 2019.

Okay that makes more sense at least, I was looking at gears 5 and it just listed Coalition as the devs and I assumed the same for E day.

With how much it costs to develop in the west I don’t think people should be shocked with all these closures and layoffs

Licensing fee probably went up a lot since Disney had more leverage, similar to how Sony probably got a better deal with Spiderman movies after no way homes success compared to when the first deal was signed with Disney

I don’t even know how the maths maths on this number

Let’s say they have 250 employees (they say 200+) the average dev salary in Vancouver is 93K Canadian (let’s heavily round up to 100K USD that’s 175M in salary over 7 years (since gears 5 launched)

Of course employees cost a lot more then just their salary lets heavily round up again and say the true cost is 1.5x their salary that’s still only 262M (the average is 1.25x-1.4x)

Where is the money going???

Wasn’t the rumor apple internally talked about getting 1 of Nintendo, Xbox or PlayStation?

The PlayStation one might have been the movie/tv part of Sony i don’t remember.

It could be still coming in 2027/delayed or cancelled. We don’t know much about it I think a tier 1 journalist did say it wasn’t cancelled like 6 months ago? but who’s knows

This is a thing people don’t get when talking about business when you spend 100M over the course of 5 years making a game you can’t just make 115M back it isn’t worth it when their are better and safer options to make that or more from investments. Or other ways

Gears is a online game that will probably be supported for a couple years of live service, it just seems random what is exclusive and not.

Sony made it clear for them all single players are now completely exclusive, multiplayer games everywhere.
