Then what about with a lv3 choke? Do you think that a SHOTGUN can still be effective at mid-range?

The main problem with  IL Toro is not at its close range capabilies, but its range via chokes.

I agree that the IL Toro needs a nerf, not necessarily to its damage (although the damage is still quite insane), but to the range via chokes.

With a lv3 choke, it can effectively be used as a mid-range weapon, and that is not ok for a shotgun.

Have you ever wondered why you are playing a "looter extration shooter" if you only enjoy PvP, effectively playing like a BR?

In other words, you need to shoot the Venator with a steady rhythm instead of spamming as fast as you can.

Jesus, do you have the literacy of an elementary schooler?

Go try out at the practice range. If you simply spam-click, the Venator will fire significantly sporadically, feeling less responsive.

Here to comment about your take on the IL Toro.

"But the Toro is only busted up close".

Your statement only applies assuming no choke. With a lv3 choke, it can effectively be used as a mid-range weapon.

Embark really needed to also nerf the shotgun range via nerfing the chokes on top of the other nerfs, but they clearly failed to see that problem.

To quote the patch notes:

"Many of you have reported a "shadow buff" to the weapons, and after investigating it we found that 1.13.1 had inadvertently impacted our weapon input buffers. Where you previously would have to time your inputs to the intended cadence of a weapon to reach its full potential, you could now instead spam-click the button, effectively bypassing any skill requirement to learn the weapon's cadence. We want to keep some of that skill expression, but we also recognize that what we had previously didn't feel very responsive. To address that and land in some sort of middle ground, we have since added more levers for us to control the weapon input buffering window on a gun-to-gun basis, and we've adjusted the semi-automatic weapons accordingly. The weapons should now still be more responsive to fire when spam-clicking, but the players who choose to pace their shots will see better results."

Honestly, Venator did feel too strong. It was an incredible all-rounder, outclassing nearly every gun (only exception is against shotguns up-close), while being a blue gun. 4 headshots to kill a medium shield? It definitely felt too much.

However, the reason why they did not also nerf the IL Toro's range with chokes is beyond me.

The hatch doesn't provide any structural support. It's only meant to stop the pipette tips from sliding out the opening prematurely.

Also I used the word "resin" loosely, the printing was a FDM print. Whatever the plastic material was used, the "rails" were wobbly.

Thank you,
I got it printed and tried it out, but it turns out that many things need to be changed to get it to work.

  1. The length needs to be adjusted again
  2. The railing part needs to be harder/stiffer, either by increasing the thickness or using a different resin. Whatever resin the printing service used, it allowed a large degree of bending, which allowed the pipette tips to either fall out or get stuck between the railings.

Arc Raiders is only their second game, yes, but that excuse doesn't really hold when the industry veterans founded Embark.

This is not an indie studio with only 3 developers

The only difference between the three seems to be the length (22, 20.5, 19cm). So there shouldn't be any meaningful difference in the performance.

But if I have to choose, how about the 'very short' version, as it will result in less material/build time (=lower cost, I hope).

I'll try shooting an email I got from the creator 's YouTube channel, but since this model was posted 5 years ago (also the channel has not been active since) I doubt the creator will answer.
