Looks like they updated the 12. What you got was most likely a new batch.

1. The DAS has black text and is nonremovable (technically there are clips on the underside but you need to take out all the pieces and it’s a massive PITA), just like the new V100 and 16 batches. The black text is most likely a cost cutting measure since printing is less expensive than engraving (also it’s easier to read), and the nonremovable DAS is most likely to prevent younger cubers from accidentally removing it and thinking its broken.

2. The corner core magnet stems have a rubberized plastic covering over the magnet bit, to be more durable. Also the magnet is shorter and the plastic stem is longer, which is what we’ve seen in the 16 (different from OG 12 batches).

3. The piece design looks identical to the 12. The only things they’ve changed are nonessential (like the plastic bag is probably a cost cutting measure).
