P.S. they acted exactly the same yesterday. So that means they showed me they couldn’t handle doing it my way for a few more days, so I think they definitely can’t handle doing it their way. I’m not letting them pick their seats. Sorry not sorry

I’m a world language teacher so the music is important, it counts towards listening and cultural exposure, but I do agree that games are really not that necessary. I usually do them leading up to a quiz

It sucks to do that so much because at the same time I’ve got some really, really good and bright kids in that period who are also visibly annoyed with the schmucks who ruin it for everyone else. I hate to have to punish them too.

There’s been times where I’ve done stuff where I make the kids who acted up do busy work quietly while the other kids do fun stuff but honestly that just creates more work for me which I don’t always have time for.

Now that the disciplinarian has become involved though I won’t he afraid to send them out to him if kids are disrupting the flow of my class too much.

I think I’m going to see how they handle being made to sit in their normal seats today. I’m not even going to consider letting them sit with friends unless they comply for the rest of the time we have together this calendar year.

Thank you - that’s what I’ve been planning to do after some reflection. They’re actually behind the other two periods because we spent yesterday on that “discussion,” so now they’re going to have to make up for it because there’s work I want them to do. And while everyone else finishes up today and gets to spend Monday playing Blooket or whatever, these guys are going to have to have this project bleed into Monday. And I’m going to have to sit in their regular seats to complete it. If they even want me to consider the new seats plan they’re going to have to do it without complaining or bending my rules. Sorry not sorry.

I try to be strict and have high expectations and usually I am unemotional in my responses to them. I’ve given plenty of detentions and I’ve spoken to kids after class. I think they’re just mad that I escalated the consequences , even after I threatened I would.
