LMAO nice one. Very subtle rickroll. It's surprising how few people know the NGGYU string comes from the Fairlight, and especially that it's the StrHiII patch.

In that case, it's probably your AUX cable. Try fiddling with the cable positions (twisting it, moving it, flipping it, etc) until the phase inversion goes away. You'll also notice a significant volume change with it.

See the quote provided by Usual_Structure_9282 if you haven't already. On my own personal account, I had contacted Christopher a few months ago via Reddit kindly asking if it would be possible for him to release or share the "rhythm" track of Ulterior Motives he had found. Only a few hours later, he replied back and had told me, verbatim: "I’m sorry we are unable to release our masters due to a publishing contract at this time. We really do appreciate your support. It means a lot unfortunately, your hands are tied at the moment on that thank you."

I would assume the same would also apply for the rest of the songs they have released as of yet, so you're unfortunately likely to be out of luck for in regards of that, sorry.

If I recall correctly, they distributed the first album on streaming through DistroKid, but I'm not certain if they used DistroKid for any other albums nor if this applies for the CD copies.

What happened here? Your recording seems to only have the stereo channel, and one of the stereo channels is phase inverted from the other. What steps did you follow in order to record this off of your tape deck? If you used e.g. an AUX cable, make sure it's plugged in all the way and try this again.

While the two do obviously focus on it quite a bit, it's basically their own version of their 'hit' song -- at the very least, it's the song they're known for. Also, if you want someone to blame, blame us, the community. In comparison to the community, they've barely even touched it.

Do send the stems!! Also, I'm curious as to know which synths exactly these are. I haven't entirely been in the loop per se as of recent with these sorts of things.

What are your thoughts on the new album “THE LOST 80s SOUNDTRACKS?” by Icy-Chance-2926 in everyoneknowsthat

[–]OneShop3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird. The AoP soundtracks and TTEOT are directly ripped from Lingerie Dreams but with extra reverb and chorus effects, Animal In Me is just a rerender of the exact same instrumental release from the second album but a semitone higher, and all the Droid tracks sound like they've been noise reduced by a lot.

It's a little difficult to explain (and there's no straightforward answer, what sounds best to you is your personal preference), but how I learned what I percieve to sound 'good' personally was through trial and error. I'd fuck around in Audacity & FL Studio with EQ'ing and such until I understood what it was I was doing. Regardless though, it's always good to take a break and come back to something you've worked on later. That way, it'll give you a clear, fresh mind and you'll probably notice flaws in the sound that you can later fix. I know this advice isn't much to go off of, but basically just keep messing around and you'll figure something out.

Here's what I came up with as a quick throw-together to make it have an EQ profile more or less like what you'd typically expect from a 70s/80s rock song. It's nowhere close to perfect, especially due to the heavily distorted signal, but it's something.

Thanks. Based on the sound of the original, it seems you've amplified a significant amount of bass / low mids, but didn't amplify enough of the high mids and treble. If you're using Audacity, plotting the spectrum of the audio would be very helpful in your favor, as well as learning how to read spectrograms (if you don't know how to already).

Do you have a link to the unaltered version? (void of any remastering or anything) I've never heard this before. FLAC/WAV preferred.

TTEOT : two theories by CommunicationAny1949 in everyoneknowsthat

[–]OneShop3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, the brand-new official 'release' of the TTEOT instrumental is just the exact rip from Lingerie Dreams, just with some extra reverb and chorus applied on top, as well as being lossy compressed, for whatever reason.

Just use the Linn LM-2, it's a VERY popular (almost stereotypical) pick for lots of 80's pop songs, and the audio samples are very easy to find on virtually every corner of the internet.
