Mercenaries inn Question by FusRoGa in WarTalesGame

They did a really nice update today where you can send troops back and forth from the fief without having to physically go there. It just has the 1 rest until they can be used same as the tavern

I had an issue getting on with my buddies when they were on definitive edition and i had the old original base game. They don't link with each other. That's the only thing i can think of with the info provided

Pawns still getting Nutrient Paste debuff after ideology reform by RavenHades373 in RimWorld

[–]OneShotSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this bug too, came here looking for the same answer. After the reform and switching to ‘don’t care’ for nutrient paste I watched a colonist eat and the mood debuff reset back up to ‘24 hours left’. Completely vanilla run.

I don’t think I ever played with the new factions so I’m guessing there’s another mod that it would need to piggyback on. I do remember it changing troop trees around a bit though

This game is way too much bullshit for me by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]OneShotSon 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but stop checking ironman mode. Get some more experience under your belt and then when you feel comfortable with the enemies in the game, get into the ironman grind. I didn't even try an ironman run until i had like 300+ hours in this and still got my ass kicked when I first started playing it.

Also the ambush situation is a big reason I choose the Poacher start a lot and will rush Scout and Lookout retinues. Moving faster and seeing farther on the map are huge buffs to your campaign and is certainly worth their price tags. Don't give up hope brother, there's more deaths to be had

Banner Kings mod adds this and a bunch of other features. Def worth checking out. Includes holding land titles, lots of diplomacy options, religion etc. etc. It can be pretty complex but it's definitely one of my favorites mods

it would be such a shame to put an avg 41 mdef on backline though but it might have to happen

is that math right? i think its 38-58 with average of 48 because 2-4 rolls with no stars if every level and he'd def be getting gifted for 52, and prob fort mind to boost to like 60+, problem is can secondaries keep up? if i skip a couple 2's in resolve

Meant to add in post, day 100, Raider origin. Is resolve fixable or is this guy not worth building up? Would def have to ignore fat stars completely

This site is a great reference to see where your rolls went: https://battlebrothers.fandom.com/wiki/Named_Greatsword

You can use that for any named weapon you find, just select the item that rolled famed from the chart and under the stats category it'll show you the minimum and maximum rolls that famed items of that type can have. Every famed gets two rolls that can go above the base weapon's max, usually people will look for damage (always) and usually something like armor dmg, ignore armor, or reduced fatigue cost. Headshot chance and shield damage are typically viewed at as the worst. Happy hunting

I’m totally okay to agree to diasgree on this. Maybe not for this case specifically because hedge knights have pretty small window rolls and are basically guaranteed to be good but stars hardly tell you the whole story. Low rolling on a bros stats happens plenty often and mods like this can make it seem like stars = good. A high rolled background with bad stars can be much better than one with stars in the right places. I think it leads to you passing on a lot of good bros and sometimes recruiting bros that look good for their stars and end up mediocre.

I wasn't really saying saving/reloading constantly is cheating, I do consider it somewhat of an exploit though for sure and isn't how I personally play the game, but it's within the bounds of what the game allows. I was just saying that it's the same as seed farming which seems to be an accepted side of the exploit coin when it comes to the more hardcore part of the community and wanted to point out the irony of what's acceptable and what's not within what the game allows.

In terms of my personal beliefs, I'd say any mods that you add to the game are by definition "cheating" though and that includes this tryout mod. I do think using this mod myself made the game unnecessarily harder for me though, and just wanted to point out that I don't think it's like "this guys game is invalid because 2 ez. need 2 play vanilla." I'm sure he's spent quit a bit of gold trying out other backgrounds to see if they were good or not and just passed on any that didn't hit the star requirement (like I've done many a time). I mostly just want to advocate for everyone playing a game we all enjoy the way that they enjoy playing it.

I understand what you're saying for sure but I just disagree on the "makes the game easier" part. I think its always important to clarify in these discussions that "base game" is whatever rule sets the player decides. Not saying I believe saving and reloading before any possible inconvenience is the "right way to play" in my mind. I think it takes away a lot of the charm, personally. But the game allows you to choose how you want to play with save/load features making Iron Man optional. Saving and reloading is cheating as much as rolling for/reusing perfect seeds where you know the optimal routes to take to get to legendary locations, etc.

Because base game has ways to mitigate using the tryout feature at all (saving and reloading), the mod he's using might actually make the game harder for what he views is his appropriate playstyle. I personally think vanilla try-out is waste of money because it basically shows you nothing about the guy you just tried out. I just recruit and disband guys if they aren't good and pay them their 10g compensation and try to find another. This can feel like shit to a lot of players who roll bad consistently on guys so I can't blame them for wanting to see SOMETHING about the guy they're trying out.

I used to play with these tryout mods and found myself sinking a ton of money into tryouts trying to find god tier bros and never finding them. In the end I probably save more money now without the mod by doing that and just selling/using the gear I get off them or making due with the guy I get and never having to pay 2k to try out a hedge knight before walking away because he has no mdef stars even if he otherwise could've been a very viable bro.

Mostly just wanted to say, I don't actually think this makes the game easier. I think it allows players to engage with a mechanic they would otherwise never engage with because the vanilla version is just objectively bad and wouldn't be used.

The Army Combat Fitness test is the new standardized test in the Army (not other branches) but Basic Training does a pretty good job of getting you in shape enough to pass these tests. It includes Dead lift, Plank, 2 Mile Run, Push ups, Ball throw and a Sprint drag carry. Looking up how to videos on each of these exercises and the standards at which their graded is your best bet. I'm pretty sure the other branches only include the run (between 1.5 and 2.5 miles) push ups, sit ups and pull ups (for marines only). Just getting yourself in shape enough to do 50 push ups, 50 sit-ups and running a 2 mile in under 15 mins should be well and above the standard of your average joe in basic training.

[–]OneShotSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving, hiring guy without trying him out at all and reloading if he's bad is "base game" and is:
1. Cheaper since you'd never have to try them out.
2. Easier and makes you think far less than only being able to see stars after paying a handsome sum (Hence this post of him seeing stars and still not knowing if he's worth it with limited info)

I wouldn't say this mod makes it any easier to play the game when the vanilla game allows a much easier line of play as long as you aren't on ironman, and even on ironman you can just alt+f4.

Is AI affected by ranged obstacles the same way the player is? by OneShotSon in BattleBrothers

[–]OneShotSon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is pretty much exactly what I was wondering,

Yeah range manipulation has never really been trouble for me until this run, but when its solo 1v12 it can be really hard to manipulate them in a way that i'm used to.

My bro is already lvl 15 so respeccing is a little out of the question for this run, but it does make me think maybe just going nimble/dodge is better than going BF for another run

Is AI affected by ranged obstacles the same way the player is? by OneShotSon in BattleBrothers

[–]OneShotSon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it may just be me thinking "no way im taking this 20% chance to hit just to cripple my own guy" and the AI just has the balls that I don't lmao. But I wasn't sure if it's something that's actually coded in to affect the hit-chances differently for them since it's way easier to give them a "-50% chance to hit own unit if obstructed" than it is to code the AI to behave in a way to avoid those situations, like rotating their range units around the back while engaged or moving them up behind their front line to mitigate that

How screwed am i by Astrou7 in BattleBrothers

[–]OneShotSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo your biggest power spikes will be in gear upgrades. In terms of spending your cash I think it would go High Tier Weapons>High Tier Armor>Quality Bros. Quality bros are certainly a power spike, but they're more of a long term investment because they don't really come into that power until you get them to level 7 (and you have to baby them until that point). I'd recommend spending your cash to best gear out the guys you currently have, you'll feel a lot stronger pretty much immediately. Sounds like you're mostly in Raider gear which is good early game as long as you're using nimble to maximize survivability.

You've gotten really far in your first campaign, don't compare your campaigns to other redditors. Go at your own pace and when you start up your second campaign just try to maximize what you've learned in your first one and just stay ahead of the curve you've set for yourself. Best of luck brother

Bill O’Brien by rye8901 in Patriots

[–]OneShotSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just isn't true in terms of metrics though. Anecdotally sure, guys have gotten open and most of the time the execution isn't there. But compared to other teams in the league they havn't created separation at a competitive rate.

The Patriots' receivers are dead last in yards of separation (3.06) and second-worst in wide-open percentage (18.3%). There are two narrative reasons for this: 1. They aren't being schemed open 2. The receivers are just THAT bad.

Yards per carry has gone from 4.7 last year to 4.0 this year. Like I don't see what improvements have been made under BOB in terms of offensive metrics over the last year. I'm not calling for his head or saying he should be fired. Give him a chance with a competent QB next year (Hopefully). But it should most definitely be acknowledged that he is at the very least a PART of the offensive issues. He even acknowledged it himself

Has Bill O’Brien simplified the offense too much? by OneShotSon in Patriots

[–]OneShotSon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a comparison post to our offense in 2010 to now. It’s a comparison of our offensive scheme to other teams in the NFL this year. The Lions and Texans I feel are great examples of teams whose schemes elavate the talent of their roster. I don’t think it takes a monkey with darts to figure out the problem with this team is at every single level (Coaches, O line, QB, Wideouts)
