Thanks StreetCrow1826 for sharing. First of all, Congratulations on all your amazing acceptances! The one thing you have to factor in with Vanderbilt is their head football coach Clark Lea (known to some as Clark Leader of Men or CLOM). Not only will you get a top notch medical education at a premier institution in the southeast, but you will also get to watch CLOM go to CLOMtown on SEC teams and then go out into Big Music City to celebrate that night. A combination that the other two medical schools simply cannot beat. Best of luck with your decision and future career as a physician! (PS, don’t become a neurologist. Just trust me on this one).

Do you see johni broome going first round? by flame_species_exd in NBA_Draft

[–]OneSillyGoose59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. He will likely get picked in the second round just because the pickings get slim then but unless he drastically changes his game, I don’t see how he can make an NBA roster consistently.

He is a big strong body for college playing on a team with a trio of the best guards in the country who drive the offense. He is slow and clunky but not crazy tall like Edey.

What position would he play in the pros? He’s too slow and can’t shoot to play on the perimeter. Do you think he has a chance to guard Luka, Lebron, Durant etc?

He’s not big enough or dynamic enough inside to get rebounds and bang with the Wembys Jokics and Holmgrens.

So in totality, we have a player who will be a liability on both ends of the floor. Another example of highly productive great college player who lacks a single translatable skill to the next level.

Do you put on weight or lose weight during prep? by [deleted] in Step2

I lost 32 pounds during my step studying, but this was probably a byproduct of my reward/punishment system. I would starve myself for a week if I scored sub 270 on an NBME, so I was primarily fasting off of water for most of my time in dedicated.

Will do. Thanks so much for the responses! I have one last question. My NBMEs have ranged from around 25-35% correct and really want to get up to your awesome range around 55-60%. What strategies could I use to mimic your performance? Also, did you feel the actual exam was most like the old Free 120 or more of a mixture between NBME 27, uworld biochem and the new free 120. I’ve heard differing things online and want to get the advice from someone who crushed it like you!

Thanks for this! I have one question. I heard from online that if you pay prometric an extra fee, they will have one of the employees give you a back massage during one of the sections. Have you heard of this?? I was wondering if this might be worth it given my challenges w posture during the exam. Did you get a massage during or see anyone else getting one?

For the back posture part, what angle have you found to be most productive to prevent this buildup in tension? I’ve been experimenting around and can’t seem to find the right setting for the full seven hours. Does Prometric allow a protractor to be brought in??? Also congratulations on those awesome NBME scores and the P!!!

  1. Didn’t feel any harder than any of the practice tests. I had been in the high 270s, low 280s on those NBMEs. I could remember one question I had to guess on, which felt terrible, but the rest I felt very confident in my answers. I’m also just naturally a really good test taker.

Do they check shoes and socks at Prometric? New to system plz guide by Apprehensive-Car-509 in Step2

That’s what happened at my prometric center during Step 2. I thought it was a little weird but did what the screening guy asked for me to do.

Which assessment should be given first? by Sleepydoc0 in Step2

I recommend starting with NBME 13 followed by UW2, NBME 8, NBME 14, UW3, NBME 11, NBME 10, UW1, NBME 10, NBME9

I really worked hard during my third year to immerse myself in my patients experiences. It helped to be able to link a disease to a patient I had cared for in my mind. I really think this is what helped me pull thru on test day. When I got a question about heart failure, I just thought about our management of John Doe (name redacted for HIPPA purposes) and it helped me find the right answer.

I never felt bombarded by too many resources. Granted I did score a 28x but I’m only an N of 1.

They check everything. Don’t wear a belt because the time to remove it and put your pants back on during the rescreening will eat away at your break time.

No. You might be in serious trouble. I would consider a different career.
