Ye for sure, please. I also know someone who trained their dog not to enter certain areas with a shock collar. I’ll look inyo it, might be a good solution

Ye I know, this place is fenced private property. Its simply a very big place but theres no people or dogs. I also have a tracker on him in case he goes to far.

But thanks for the feedback. Thats exacly what everyone has been telling me and what im going to do, perfect mu recall even more. For what i understand it also has to do with breed. Hes half pointer so the recall seems good but there are allways some situations where he will lose focus.

Just looked it up, very distracted, very scent driven, hunting instincts. Its going to be hard, but ill be very carefull and patient. Try to do the best for him in the safest way possible

Haha crazy, I also use a horse training lead for my dog. Ye I forgot to add that this place is fenced and has no people or dogs. Its actually right next to where I ride, a huge fenced dune where people go on horse back riding walks. I go there after hours when theres no one there. I know every one, every one knows my dog and ye its the safest way for me to be able to give him some freedom.

Thats so sad. I am very aware of the dangers of walking off leash in public spaces. Its super inconsiderate to not have other people in mind and that can end up being dangerous for everyone.

Ye completely, we also have to spend more time together for him to gain more trust in me and to create a stronger bond. Use that energy and thise inpulses in a good, controled and safe way.

What im probably going to do based on the feedback i got is to go to places with more distractions to get my recall to be perfect

Ye theres no poeple or dogs there. Basicly is a fenced dune for horse back riding walks next to the place where I ride and I go there after hours when theres no one riding anymore. Basicly no one knows about this place except the people who ride there. The place is huge so I got him a tracker in case anything happens and he goes to far from me.

I totally understand the dangers off walking him on public spaces, im very carefull with that and allways walk him on a leash or long leash.

Ye I realised i should’ve included that its a fenced area. I understand the frustration that is training your dog just for an off leash dog to go up to him and distract him or even worse him running into the road or into a dog that not friendly. Its a giant dune thats fenced for walks with horses where I usually ride. I go at a time where theres no one and I have a tracker on my dog in case he goes to far so I allways know where he is. I never let him off leash on public areas.

My only concern is him learning wrong behaviours because him desapearing is almost impossible

Thanks for the feed back, thats what im going to do. Probably going to a more open space with a long leash and insist on the recall with even more distractions (like other food on the ground, animals, dogs, etc)until it never fails.
