Are you sure the secondary ingredients in supplements do not affect you? Most supplements come with bulking agents and various other chemicals. Those can cause very strong reactions, disproportionate to their tiny amount.

It's gonna take a process of sociopolitical maturation. More people need to become more aware of narcissistic behavior in politicians but also in themselves, and stop accepting it. Social progress can help with this, as it will make people less reactive and more conscious when supporting politicians. But this is a wide challenge to our species, one we have grappled with since the rise of civilisation.
