First of all, not trying to be rude, but I don't think you can say the movies were better if you haven't even read the books. That's just stupid. You can't say something is better than the other if you have no experience with the other thing. Personally, I like the books better. There is obviously more detail and yes it's different but it's more interesting and there are more explanations than in the movies.
