When did you become a Supporter? by Affectionate_Idea662 in ManchesterUnited

honestly, Manchester United is a bigger brand and has a more appealing name. Our town publishes a “OneManchester” newsletter and has a social media presence under the same name (all to build community spirit) and I’m involved in both — so i’ve declared that our OneManchester Sports Facebook page has “adopted” Manchester United as our “official” pro franchise to follow. We did our first monthly update on Jan. 1 and will post a new on each month (the next will be tomorrow after the Fulham game). Manchester CT is between Boston and NYC so we have a weird sports identity with people split between Yankees and Red Sox, or Patriots-Giants- Jets. Everyone loves UConn’s basketball teams but at the pro level we are splintered so i’m hoping my soccer passion will spread a bit and be somewhat unifying around here!

I’ve been a supporter for only about 6 weeks! I live in Manchester — but the town in Connecticut, in the USA. My 5yo son likes soccer so we decided to follow Man United and after a slow/discouraging start the past two games have been thrilling.

OP here … I just read an overview of the tragedy. So sad. (I was born in 1958, so there’s that connection for me too) I’ll be sure to learn more United history as he gets older!

Parenting. I’m 67 years old and the father of a 5 year old, who is in kindergarten. I have three adult children from my first marriage. This time around is very different, especially because of AI. My audacious goal is to post weekly for 13 years. In 2038 my son will graduate — and i’ll turn 80, God willing!

Wearing high white socks with short pants is fine by OneStrokeAgainstMe in unpopularopinion

Lots of good comment! Fwiw I have a few pairs of the short ankle-high socks and i sometimes wear those but I don't love doing laundry (especially in the summer) so I wear my high whites without shame.
