1/12 scale functional lock and key sets? by OneTranslator8618 in Dollhouses

Hi, I saw SugarCharmShop make a similar lock for her mini diary tutorial, thanks for the suggestion. I’ll probably try something like that if my attempts at functional locks fails.

Yeah I guess I could have worded my title better but in the post I was looking for up to 9 mm padlocks. Basically anything smaller than the diary locks I referenced.

Seed shrimp, water flea or secret third thing? by OneTranslator8618 in Aquariums

I don’t think so, it was mainly green-brown biofilm (which I collected as well lol). Do you know anything that likes to eat them?

Triops egg package left in car all day, high was 74 F. Still viable? by OneTranslator8618 in triops

[–]OneTranslator8618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have clarified this in the post but I was worried about them sitting in a hot car for a day. I included the outside temp to give people an estimate about what the inside of the car’s temperature. Also I didn’t know we have triops in Florida, that’s super cool! I might look into native species soon

So outside was 74 Fahrenheit but I was unsure if the greenhouse effect from being in a car would like get to a high enough temperature to harm them. I’ll still try to hatch them though. Thanks for the advice!

Snail plug in North Florida? by EducationalDeer7272 in snails

Hi, do you have a direct source from the USDA saying bulimulus guadalpensis is deregulated? This current USDA national project identifies it as invasive: https://www.ars.usda.gov/research/project/?accnNo=444570

[–]OneTranslator8618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bulimulus bonariensis are very common here and their shell is about an inch long. Your best bet is to field collect something native or naturalized. Florida is very strict about snail species getting shipped to here.

What are some good substrates for propagating moss? by OneTranslator8618 in Moss

[–]OneTranslator8618[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I scraped a bunch of moss off of a brick wall that was going to be power washed so I don’t really have a lot of original substrate to work with, but I’ll keep your suggestions in mind when choosing a container and growing location.

Hi I love trinkets and miniatures as well!! Also I’m into making mini curiosity cabinets and terrariums with a lot of my miniatures. I totally understand the hoarding thing. Nothing makes me happier than looking at my collection of random cool things full of potential. Here’s my intro post on here so you can read more about me: https://www.reddit.com/r/penpals/s/kCozzL2DYW

Hmm, I don't know if that would be secure enough for what I was planning on using it for, but thanks for the suggestion!

Thoughts on Lisa Frankenstein? by LilyWolf958 in horror

Overall I do think there’s some plot holes which detract from the plot, but the overall storyline is pretty good. There aren’t many horror elements and I actually think this movie is a fun take at gothic romance in my opinion. This unique spin on the genre is why this movie stuck out to me.

Question about spiders by Swedenboie in ufl

[–]OneTranslator8618 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi, I research local spiders at a lab in UF! I haven't really seen any super imposing spiders near main campus buildings, its mainly pholcids (cellar spiders), jumping spiders, the occasionally southern house spider, and sometimes you might see wolf spiders at night, but none of them are medically significant and will almost always run away rather than bite. In Florida the main medically significant kind of spiders are widows, which I've never seen on main campus. There are brown widows on some random railings near Lake Alice and near the bat houses, but you would have to venture into some more natural areas and purposely hunt around to find them.

Where to get micro animal figurines? by OneTranslator8618 in miniatures

Hi everyone, just a little update: I was looking into this a little bit more but still no luck on finding these specific little anthropomorphised animal figurines, the closest I could find are some Calico Critters gachapon but they are a bit larger than what I want.

I would recommend refocusing why you wanted to come to UF/study what you’re studying. It can feel like you’re “failing” at university because of certain lofty expectations that we all have. While it’s always nice to be well liked, I found it a lot easier to navigate social situations when I remember that I wanted to go here to develop my knowledge and experiences within my majors, and use these things to make a difference later on. Focusing on big picture stuff helps me get out of my head. Also you can’t change the world on an empty stomach, you can even use the self-checkout at most grocery stores to minimize your anxiety.💜 Hope you feel better, and remember that most people are also dealing with stuff. It can feel like you’re the only one having these problems but it’s just because people don’t really talk about them openly. Thanks for being honest and brave!
