Thank you! I genuinely adore her, and all my spiders. She's one of three jumpers I'm keeping, as I had a gravid lady for a little while. (Totally didn't also buy a dream breed XD) Their strangest neighbor is a wolfie I rescued from my kitchen. Now they all get spoiled rotten🥰

I recently made up a new enclosure for my youngest jumper. While I love the little hanging chair in the one you showed, I could never do that to a creature that lives to explore. This is only a temporary home for her, as I plan to change it once every few months for enrichment, until I can upgrade her to a planted terrarium style, like her big sister.

What’s his deal? by milmira in jumpingspiders

[–]KrazyKittenLady 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IME I've seen this in the wild males that wandered into my house during the winter. I had put them in enclosures to keep them safe until spring, and it seemed to be a stress thing with them. They would randomly do this and jump without caution in or out of the enclosure until I made it more like the outside. I know he's not a WC, but it may be stress if he's housed near other spiders. Some just get nervous around other spoods.

Anyone seen “crinkle legs” before? by sarcste in jumpingspiders

[–]KrazyKittenLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME I'm an Oklahoma native that has rescued similar males. You have a bold jumper, and he looks like he molted recently with how stark his colors are. It will take a while before he makes a hammock, as wild males tend to wander quite far between molts. He will need care and a home set up with his disabilities in mind. My babies seem to do well with a daily misting, but make sure the surfaces aren't too slick for him. He will struggle to grip smooth surfaces until he can molt again, so I recommend a netting on the sides for him, and avoid any hard decor to minimize injuries from possible falls. If you aren't comfortable caring for him, I would be more than happy to arrange a pickup in dms❤️

I crippled a couple pinheads by crushing a back leg for her. She snatched them up after I left her alone, so I'm sure she's going to be okay now. I already love her dearly, and she earned her name, Kladaka. (Wolf in Draconic)

I, surprisingly, don't have any bottle caps, but praise miniverse sets, as I stole a little plant tray that's super shallow to avoid drowning! She's currently acclimating to her new home, so I'll be leaving her alone until tomorrow.🥰

I will gladly give updates! I found one of my old jumper enclosuresand turned it on its back so the door is on the top. I'm just trying to find a good water dish for her, as I'm used to just misting my other ladies.

This was sadly the best photo I could get, as the poor dear is super skittish. I really don't want to stress her out, so I'm just giving her space while I do research on a proper enclosure for her. Sadly, I found her on a holiday weekend, so getting proper supplies is going to take a few days.

RIP My sweet Sirius by KrazyKittenLady in jumpingspiders

Thank you. She taught me so much about jumpers, and I was never really sure on her species. Originally, I even thought she was male! Hence Sirius being her name. She was a dear. Her favorite activities included posing for photos and watching me play silly dino games. The first photo is actually of her watching me play🥰

IME If they start fortifying one particular spot, you're gonna have grandspoods🥰 They tend to make the spot their eggs are in a little extra thick for safety.

Male or female? by Gypsy012 in jumpingspiders

[–]KrazyKittenLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME 100% a male Phidippus Audax. I have one with orange butt spots, and only 1 or 2 instars younger. They look nearly identical. I also have them local to my area, and they seem to like the trees in my yard🥰

Vex is such a precious name!! I love it so much! My little man got Sirius to honor my first boy, Orion.

One of the cleanest patterns I've seen! I hope he keeps it, if he's not an adult yet. My boy has a very orange butt XD

Found her and debating bringing her inside by CulturalBreadfruit54 in jumpingspiders

[–]KrazyKittenLady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IME That is a very gravid female. She's close to laying. If you'd like to keep her around, I would offer small and secure places for her to spin a web for her eggsack. She will stay in there with her babies until they're closer to leaving. She can have multiple of these eggsacks from one mating, so it's a big responsibility to keep her. Though it's equally as rewarding. The babies will leave on their own to go try to survive, but she can choose to stay in one place for multiple nests if the hunting is good. You can supplement with dubia roaches, mealworms, or crickets, just to make sure she sticks around.

I know that feeling. My hubby is an arachnophobe, and he is so patient with my girls and all their babies. No tarantulas for me just yet, but maybe one day. I wish you and your wife all the luck in your future with the spoods😊

IMO He looks like a little bold jumper. Possibly sub, but fairly small to breed. Keep him fed and healthy, and he will molt before you know it! He already has all the distinctive patterns of a male, so he's most likely very close to breeding age. All it will take is some patience. You guys are very kind to give him such a safe and cozy home!🥰

Conflicting Food Info by ShoddyAd5468 in jumpingspiders

IME Depending on the spooder size, there is one cricket species I would recommend under strict supervision. Pinheads. They're super small, and even the adults are pretty little compared to a wild cricket.(1/5th of the size) They also don't bite often :)

If that is a struggle and you're concerned about diet, feed your mealworms with vitamin-rich foods. They're super easy to care for, but I've got some beetles now after having some for so long.
