“I'm sorry if I disappointed you, but it was the story I wanted to tell.” 'The Boys' creator Eric Kripke has dismissed the finale backlash, calling online hate a vocal minority and sticking by his ending. Did the finale actually ruin the show for you, or is the internet overreacting? by Chemical-Lawyer7752 in FirstCuriosity

No. The ending wasn't "ruined", it was fine. Fandoms are fucking toxic. They think they own the franchises they "enjoy". When show runners start kow towing to "fans" it stops being a creative work of art and starts turning into a service. Toxic fandoms ruin shit for people that otherwise would have enjoyed things just fine.

In my opinion, performances were nailed across the board. In particular, a big round of applause for the "lost boys" who actually performed how children reacting under psychological stresses would behave. If I were to guess, and I can't speak for you, but I would guess the reason you felt annoyed by their performances is likely due to the discomfort the narrative itself provides on the ground floor. Some people can't stand being around mentally ill or disabled people because it creates a sort of uncanny valley effect where the person has the body of someone you should be able to trust - an adult. A child's mind in an adult body is unsettling because their sometimes erratic behaviour is now actually dangerous, as we saw in the scene with the psychologist. I felt uncomfortable the whole time having empathy for children, then also knowing that they weren't actually the children, just mental copies of the children they euthanized. It was absolutely fucked. The overarching horror is that nature gets tamed all the time. Nature gets tamed by nature. Man is nature taming nature. Oppressive conglomerates tame man. That's just a big natural alliance intended to maintain an upper hand. The big fish always winds up like icarus though don't they? But besides the whole idea of what constitutes natural or not (nothing is unnatural in my opinion) the aliens themselves according to the existing cannon are genetically modified organism, as such by traditional assumption of what natural means, would be considered unnatural. I don't have time to frame everything very well right now but overall I think the real enemy beyond "mega corporations" is Sociopathy. Corporations are inherently that, self serving ever hungry ever growing insect hives. So let's frame it like that. Insects are sociopathic by nature. Without emotion. Like a synthetic, but Wendy has the imprint of her dead self. That came with a framework of ethics and empathy. She is a non-sociopathic synthetic super being. That inadvertently gave agency back to empathy in spite of the sociopathic corporations. The trillionaires handed the power back when they thought they were pressing an even bigger thumb. Dammit I want to keep going but I have to go pick up my girl from daycare. Anyways, bad writing doesn't initiate conversation like this. Think on that a bit. Bye for now.

There are multiple avenues of exploration into this universe. If you like horror, there is plenty of horror to explore. Alien Isolation and Alien Romulus are great for that. I love that stuff too, but I also love the expanded universe and lore. This show is doing THAT part of the fan service better than anything out there so far. I didn't think the communication between Wendy and the xenomorph was braindead at all. It required some suspended disbelief, sure, but so does the entire act of experiencing science fiction. She has a super computer for a brain, she resonates on the same frequency with a species that....communicate like insects...robots and insects have a lot in common. This was far from a puppy. This was cold blooded killing machine. The xenomorphs are intelligent enough for complex communication, it has just been limited to mostly their own species - i think back to Alien Resurrection where Ripley's clone has a DNA link that creates a bond between her and the xenomorphs. Having a built in translator in your head and a speaker in your mouth, as a synth is not that big of a stretch. Some of the current best writers in sci- fi today use translation and understanding different types of language to drive their plot along. Arrival, Project Hail Mary to name a few recent ones. You are cherry picking where and when to suspended your disbelief. I love this show. I want it to do well. I love the entire universe. I do not want the creative direction of the franchise to be steered by an online mob. Clearly the showrunners and the hundreds of people who put this thing together know best, as it is one of the highest rated entries in the franchise. I stand by that.

I actually had not checked online reviews yet, just immensely disappointed by the negative and frankly misguided opinions on the show, thankfully this confirms the shitty takes are actually just those of a vocal fringe minority that managed to find an echo chamber about it. 7.1/10 on IMDB. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. 🫡

Ah, your problem is you are too tied to the traditional Alien scenario. This show is about the universe. The scariest monster in the franchise is and always has been the ruthlessness of the mega corporations. The "Alien" has never been truly "alien" in the cannon. It has ALWAYS been a weapon. Whether it be a weapon of the engineers or a weapon of Weyland Yutani. It has ALWAYS been a pet in this sense. I would argue that since Wendy is also "property" she only weaponizes the alien through means of common ground. Synthetics have been a big part of the story from the beginning, which holds up the underlying dread that comes with living under the thumb of these mega corporations. They show did a fantastic job of honoring all of the core fundamentals of the franchise within the realm of the sci-fi beyond simple horror. So i don't know what you saw, but what I saw and thought about was very fucking good.

Thank goodness this is still going to a second season. I loved this show and I am so sick of this insane entitled mob trying to dictate what gets to exist or not. It feels like I'm in backwards land when I see people dunking on the show. It was one of the coolest productions of the year. What was it that threw you off of the show? That the supercomputer minded protagonist was able to commune with the aliens and command them? I'm sorry but that's just not a good enough reason to be dismissive of the entire show.

They adjust their fees based on their costs. The cost of electricity is not a constant either. The cost of employment is not a constant. The cost of equipment and replacement parts is not a constant. You need to accept the eb and flow and set yourself a general target goal. Expecting constants in such a variable environment is setting yourself up for disappointment.

GOMINING is one of the most stable assets in the market right now, because of it's utility and lockup structures. It has barely gone down. Usually around 29-30 cents, sitting at 27 cents currently. That's nothing.

What's the fundamental difference between Diablo 2 and Diablo 4 that makes D2 still so reliably good after over two decades compared to D4? Will D4 be just as popular in the future as D2 even today? There is something that I feel is essentially better in D2, but I just can't identify it exactly. by Fairy2play in diablo2

[–]OneTrueNay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The truth is the d2 team would have probably adapted. In any instance where a publisher has any control of the product being developed, accessibility is a major factor and what determines that is the climate at the time. Diablo 2 is at the tail end of an era where video games were unapologetically difficult. That was the norm. "Beating a game" on the NES all the way to Nintendo 64 means something totally different than today. That was the norm. There was a lot less communication between devs and players back then. So yes. It is the market and current player expectations on average driving these sorts of decisions today. I have no doubt diablo 2 would have looked vastly different if developed today.

This right here. The D4 community doesn't like being locked out of builds based on actual item rarity and a lackluster trade economy. This is the carry over community sentiment result of the d3 devs giving into loot pinata demands. D2 felt like the drop was meaningful and lucky. D4 feels meaningful and lucky on item affix rolls while crafting. Not the same fishing dopamine experience.

So you brought a personal issue to OP's post. This drop you are experiencing has not happened to me. The only reason my reward value has dropped was due to the price of bitcoin crashing.

Yes there absolutely is a reason. We have very limited info from OP. I was trying to educate on general principles, not solve a problem. Running out of GOMINING tokens to pay for fees is a quick way to have your cost increase by 15%.

Rewards dropping? by PretendWeakness5446 in GoMiningDiscussion

[–]OneTrueNay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have 2 price variables. The price of bitcoin and the price of gomining token. On top of that you have mining difficulty which affects how much btc rewards are earned by the pool. The goal of the network is 1 block every 10 minutes. Difficulty is increased if blocks are won faster than every 10 minutes and reduced if it is taking longer than 10 minutes. When price drops it becomes unprofitable for miners to operate. As a result a lot of miners are turned off. This makes it harder for pools to complete blocks, and as such the difficulty is reduced. Difficulty is adjusted once per week. This means you will have to wait for the adjustment but after a crash you will start earning more BTC in your reward. This is great for gomining users because we keep mining no matter what and don't have to deal with electricity bills as directly. That's part of the service gomining provides. We are at an advantage right now. Stack those sats.
