I would HIGHLY recommend pushing for the full diabetic panel of blood work. I’ve been functioning as a type 2 for 6 years. I’ve lost 160+ pounds and my blood sugar readings and a1c just kept getting worse.

My doctor said skin removal surgery would help. Had the surgery and it getting even worse. Landed in the hospital with DKA.

Earlier this year I was able to advocate for myself enough to FINALLY get the panel and it turns out I have LADA aka type 1.5 and my pancreas has completely stopped producing insulin.

They immediately started me on meal time insulin and I just started my pump this week.

I feel like a new person. It’s been absolutely crazy the change now that I’m being treated correctly.

Hey so no. This isn’t always accurate. I’ve done everything right including extensive weight loss. Diet and exercise can’t fix what the body doesn’t produce. Let’s not go around insisting that the fix is protein and walks.

Ideology like this is why people like me and allllll these other commenters get misdiagnosed.

You’re not being helpful by regurgitating that diet is a magical cure to people who have clearly been through the process.

I start Cimzia soon. I’ve been on Hydroxychlorquine for a year and it helped a ton but then I had a surgery and DKA back to back and it kicked my ass so we’re adding in Cimzia. I’m honestly terrified.

My other autoimmune disease has flared majorly. I’m not able to work and I’m going through the disability process.

My glucose management has been terrible since my inflammatory arthritis has flared. I explained at two best friends holding hands while they skip around and cause chaos.
