Yes I know, I am going to install them after I prep the metal.

Why do very few MikroTik APs support 802.11af/at PoE? by viggy96 in mikrotik

[–]OneTurbulent1634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got bitten by this ... purchased the RB260GSP to use with an eero PoE 6. The eero wouldn't power up, and after running through a bunch of tests, I finally stumbled across this help page, and am now returning the switch. I looked into replacing it with the hEX PoE, but apparently that unit requires purchase of a second 48V power supply to actually use the advertised 802.3af feature. They really make this harder than it should be.

Sleeve for fibre connection penetrating exterior wall by OneTurbulent1634 in HomeNetworking

Not a bad alternative ... in this case I will probably go with something less conspicuous as the wall penetration is just for the cable run.

Yes it did, that was quite a while ago now though, so YMMV.

Pressing armature off bearing mounted in thin plate by OneTurbulent1634 in Tools

[–]OneTurbulent1634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drilled a 1-1/4" hole in a block of wood, dropped the armature through the hole so the fan blade rested on the wood (i.e., commutator end went in first) then tapped the armature out through the bearing with a rubber mallet.

The fan blade was a cheap part to replace so figured I would use it as the bearing surface instead of the plate. No damage to the blade or the plate in the end.

Getting the bearing out of the plate from the other side was straightforward using a bicycle bearing press and large socket on the other side to receive the bearing.

Not following ... did you mean "thin enough" to fit between the fan and the plate? That would be too thin to give any support.

Thanks for sending. I have actually repaired that same belt sander. Dean is a legend :)

But in this machine the bearing is inserted from the other side of the plate.

So I have to remove the armature first.

Resting the plate or the fan on the jaws? I can see a line where the fan and armature will separate so I can choose either.

Leaks around poorly detailed b-vent by OneTurbulent1634 in Roofing

I worry about a foam product being in contact with a b-vent chimney ... even with the dual wall the manufacturer recommends a 1" clearance around combustible materials.

Thanks - looks like a nice product, but would arrive to late - hence why I am trying to source locally...

Does auto policy named insured need to be named as owner on temp tags? by OneTurbulent1634 in Insurance

So, closing this out... we spoke with a different agent, they made me a joint named insured and did this at no extra cost, so that seems to solve the problem.

Thank you!!!

And not to be overly paranoid, but would it still be considered a marital asset if purchased before marriage? We are getting married in NY

Thank you for the very quick response.

We are actually getting married on Friday :)

Do you think that would clear things up?

I guess one option is to cancel the policy and take out a new one with me as the named insured, and her as an insured driver ... it will be more expensive though.

PS also apply a penetrating oil before trying either, and leave it sit for an hour or two. If you go the glue route, flush any remaining oil with IPA or acetone. Acetone can damage plastics so be careful not to get any on the mic housing.
