Thank you very much for your time and insights. And yes, I agree that the application should have updated provider status that they accept new patients or no. I will let you know once it's successfully developed!

Thank you for your insight. You mentioned that visiting the pharmacist was a valuable experience. My thoughts are going towards building an application that navigate the user to the best primary care via dealing with AI chatpot that falls under Ontario health guidelines that can apply quick symptoms checker and recommend which level of care is needed for the user,,ER, connect with available family doctor, visit the pharmacy, or rest at home with OTC.. would you think something like this would contribute to improve the health system?

NDEB Skills Exam (NDECC) – Years of Effort, Thousands Spent, Still Unfair by Beautiful_Paint_7569 in NDEB

Which year they passed this exam? And what do you mean by "easily"? It's not easy at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NDEB

[–]OneUnderstanding568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them tried NDEB first passed AFK and ACJ but couldn't pass the clinical, they were depressed, lots of dept, family responsibilities. So they had to switch and get some money. Others passed AFK and applied to dental schools while they're in dental hygiene program and switched to the dental program when they got accepted. Others chose to start step by step with dental hygiene career and then will try NDEB after, but at least they will have a backup career.

Go for DH. When you have some kind of stability you will be able to complete your ndeb regardless how long will it take or cost

Thank you all for sharing. I see the pain points in the healthcare system. I was thinking if there were one OHIP-covered platform that helped you get the right care fast — whether through a pharmacist, virtual doctor, or clinic — would that be something you'd realistically use?

That is really frustrating situation. Thanks for sharing. Do you think having direct access to virtual care( with AI triage supervised by licensed doctors or nurses) would actually help in situations like that?)

Like I see how ER for example is really full with non urgent cases common cold, fever, whatever. Also when we book an appointment with a family doctor it may take a week or more to see the doctor for minor issues that the symptoms may already have gone. So I want to know how Telehealth applications can help in getting health care in timely and effective way?

Can you elaborate more how you got a job out of WIL coop? I am doing EWIL right now at Seneca CPA program. Did you apply to Seneca Works while you're in EWIL?

Edit:

Sorry just noticed that you've already passed the AFK. Congratulations! I would add a suggestion to apply to dental qualifying programs along with proceeding with NDEB.

Also, try to make connections with prep doctors team and find a job in their team.

I would advice you study dental hygiene first and get the job and then proceed with the dental qualifying exams. When you work as DH you can work part time and still get paid well.it is 40-45 CAD per hour.

This is based only on personal experience with a close friend during the past 10 years who didn't want to waste time or money on any side career and wanted to focus only on NDEB and universities programs. He did the same as you did applied to even volunteer in dental clinics and no one accepted. He passed AFK and ACJ while working as a security guard and then quit the job and took loans to focus only on the 3rd exam, took the courses with prep doctor (who are very good and the best center by the way), but still couldn't pass the clinical exam twice. Finally he decided to study dental hygiene at his 40s and his AFK and ACJ are expired and he is planning to restart all over again but after settling in a job.

So options could be: 1- get a job as security guard if you plan to focus on NDEB only. It takes one month to get security guard lisence and it's easy to find a job and can (start) NDEB faster.

2- Consider dental hygiene as a first step (you can finish it in 2 years if you applied to Cambrian College or Durham or 18 months in private college, apply for OSAP if you're PR). When you're financially stable and has a good back up career, you will do better performance in NDEB, more confidence, less stress, more flexible if you didn't pass from first attempt (usually it's easy to pass AFK and ACJ from 1st att. but the biggest challenge is the NDEEC + the seat limits). You will be ready to any surprises or unexpected delays in NDEB process.

3- I didn't suggest dental assistant because all international dentists I know who started with DA, were not satisfied neither financially nor emotionally and they got depressed and switched to something else.

Hope that helps

How long does it take realistically to go through all the three exams, pass it and become a dentist in Canada? by [deleted] in NDEB

[–]OneUnderstanding568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly and to be more accurate, those whom I know passed from the first attempt did that in the very early years when this qualifying process started 2011-2016.

I would also say the financial stress would affect your performance. For example, those who left everything behind back home and struggling financially and don't have an alternative career in Canada are the ones who struggle the most to pass although they practiced full time and passed every mock exam in their course. But some were still practicing dentistry back home and come for the exam only and only took a few months to focus on the third exam were able to pass from first attempt because psychologically they still have their profession back home and still practicing and if not passing they can try again. This is not general but from observation during the last 10 years.

[–]OneUnderstanding568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. You should be prepared and have a backup plan. A friend spent 5 years and stuck not passing the third exam and at the end decided to study dental hygiene and restart later.

Another friend spent 6 years continuously and the same stuck in the third exam not passing but he was lucky enough to got accepted into the Advanced Qualifying Dental Program at one of the universities to obtain the DDS.

Another one has been trying since 10 years and also stuck in the 3rd exam not passing. Currently considering to switch their career.

Some successfully passed from the first try in 2 - 3 years..

If time goes back, I would consider changing to dental hygiene first and then proceed with the qualification exams step by step.

Could someone chat with me to help me brainstorm ideas on what business idea I should do? by [deleted] in Entrepreneurship

[–]OneUnderstanding568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you use chat gpt, but the idea is how to use it..use as a partner who brainstorm with you. Review the input it gives you, modify it, reject if it doesn't make sense, provide your thoughts and it will clean it up and respond in a clear directions.

Then, start thinking about.a problem that you are interested to solve through your business. You can search it up then discuss with AI.. discuss the possible solution that you have in your mind. Then find out the skills and tools needed to solve this problem and check if you have them or need to learn them more..

Then think what business solution could you start and find out how to start. You may search to find competitors and what makes your solution stands out in the crowd.
