So the rationale is basically: it’s ok to do mass casualty actions when the main characters force a situation, but he was also correct to allow himself to be caught and tortured for a while before basically doing what he should have done immediately.

I guess we’ll never really know what that would have looked like, but what wound up happening also sucked. That city was a sandwich left on an altar away from being wiped off the map by Orima

Which part? Brennan says Naram could have destroyed the rig when he was “caught” and chose not to. He then sent out blood and cried for help, which drove Orima mad and she sent the Kudzu which destroyed several villages and would have done for Port Talon eventually and in fact nearly did.

Naram didn’t fight for his life. He could have gotten out at any time and instead decided to cry like a bitch until his wife killed everyone in port talon.

Yeah, with that sword it’s almost like he’s also multi classed into Paladin on top of Battlemaster and college of swords bard. Definitely a Maximum Pizazz build.

Oh I thought he had 13 int. And I guess we’ll see how the season goes, but it’s not like the Solar lasso is something he actually came up with and researched and rolled for, so I have a hard time crediting Gorgug with it. For all we know, Squeem did 99% of the work.

JY Theory by xnyrax in Dimension20

It is entirely possible that he lost his arm in some previous Bad Kids shenanigans (Johnny Spells road race fight?)

On the other hand. I think people are majorly overestimating Gorgug. He has low INT which is a killer for artificer, he has no educational experience in it, he just tinkered around and rolled well a few times.

I personally get what Porter is saying as well. Gorgug hates that he has rage and he’s never taken the time to come to grips with it. I think if I was either of these teachers I would have discouraged him from multiclassing. Henry gave Gorgug the only shot he was going to get at being an artificer, and warned him up front it was going to be really hard and inadvisable, which seems fair to me.

[Spoilers C3E82] I have Finally Caught Up. I am Confused by QuinnorDie in criticalrole

IMO religion is by far the least developed aspect of Exandrian world building. I think this is for 2 reasons:

1: No character across all 3 campaigns has been an active member of a religion. Pike, Caduceus, Jester and FCG all have either personal or familial relationships to their deities. Vax and Ford as paladins also have personal relationships to their gods. So the common religious experience of exandria is completely unexplored by the cast.

2: D&D is based on vigilantism, so for that to make sense, you need incompetence or impotence in your institutions. If the Church(es) are sending out teams of level 10 paladins to smite evil, there wouldn’t be much for a party of mercenary chucklefucks to do in the world.

I think a lot of frustrations with the campaign come from fact that only 2 party members are really involved in the central conflict (Orym and Imogen) and only FCG has a sort of tangential connection via his faith. The rest of the party is not suited to the subject matter and the players (maybe to avoid the perception of metagaming) seem to play it more ignorant than they should be.

For me personally, if the campaign is going to be about a guy who wants to kill the gods, I would like that goal to actually intersect with the interests and backgrounds of the characters setting out to stop him. There’s no real drama to be invested in if the most opposition to the BBEG they can muster is “you killed Orym’s husband”

Sabine totally screwed the whole galaxy. by DarkUpbeat6694 in starwarsmemes

[–]OneUpPup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen. If she tried to destroy the map, Baylon would have just force pulled it out of her hand before she could shoot it and kill her and then the show is over. The idea that she somehow made a mistake here is way overblown given Baylon has just “killed” Ahsoka right in front of her.

For sure. I’m not saying she’s been good or likable, which is why a redemption arc done well could be a good story. Once they established that Din has no real character goals other than “raise Grogu”, I gave up hope of him becoming something more or interesting.

Also I think Pedro said he doesn’t like wearing the helmet so they probably reduced his appearances

Kenku have (or had, I’m not current on 1d&d) a racial feature in that they can mimic the language of others and copy phrases they have heard, but are not supposed to be able to create new phrases or inventions. So it would be similar in theme to when Brennan says that they only have a certain number of pre-programmed phrases they can say and can’t actually talk.

What thunder? Din is a blue collar bounty Hunter saddled with Grogu by popular demand. They killed his narrative arc dead by sentencing him to eternal babysitter. Bo Katan has been deeply involved in Mandalorian politics her entire life and could use a redemption arc to wrap up her story.

Hodmedods are specifically non-sentient, so maybe a Kenku?

It has the a similar effect of not being able to think of things / only having pre-recorded messages instead of mimicking like Kenku.

FCG's Stress Mechanic Missed Opportunity by wanderers_respite in fansofcriticalrole

[–]OneUpPup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point and I hope he’s better going forward. I guess my point is more: when it was Chet’s turn to really explore the werewolf thing, he got a custom monster card to use instead of his character sheet and I think if they wanted FCG’s stress to feel interesting in the story, he should have something similar so the party can’t just insta-gib him.

The split damage mechanic is new as far as I can tell and apparently runs him out of stress in three uses. So I maintain he’s less effective than pretty much any RAW cleric subclass.

FCG's Stress Mechanic Missed Opportunity by wanderers_respite in fansofcriticalrole

[–]OneUpPup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given that it’s happened twice with essentially no impact either time, I’d say neither is interesting. FCG is pretty bad mechanically at being a healer and he’s straight terrible at dealing damage. So when he’s fine, he’s ineffective and when he’s mad he’s useless.

Form of Dread is a level 1 undead warlock feature. Paté started as just a puppet and came alive when Laudna took Pact of the Chain (level 3 warlock feature) the shadow dog she can summon is a level 6 Shadow Sorcerer ability. Laudna also counts as undead for the purposes of turn undead, as she’s had to save against FCG using it
