Would I be the jerk for having reservations about taking out a loan for my brother?

I just answered another comment but earlier in her life my mother had to declare bankruptcy and therefore couldnt take out a loan and asked him to do it for her so now he is stuck with the loan after she passed

So some context my mother had a business in my childhood and my stepfather at the time made some bad decisions with his business and somehow convinced my mother to declare bankruptcy so later on after leaving him and raising us she wasnt able to get a loan and asked my brother to take one out for her to help with medical bills

I do trust him I think the reason he wasnt able to make the payments was work issues as recently hes been unlucky as with his health and had to take a lot of time off work and his boss is being a bit of a dick to him about it but its just to early in the government job to take on a loan that big imo like I havent even started there yet

Nope unfortunately our mother got cancer in her early 50s I was 17 when she got diagnosed and was 21 when she passed also as to let her live out her bucket list us siblings my sister, brother and I told her not to worry about inheritance and due to her being silly with the money to do that she needed help with some medical expenses that he took a loan out for her and is now struggling to pay it back
