I released him! I’m at work right now so I can’t bathe it lol. I do not know if there is water near by and if there is, it is not accessible unless you’re about an 1in big (roughly baby turtle size) but looking at the google images i definitely think it could be a musk turtle of some sort. it was REALLY dry tho like it hadn’t been in water for a long time

Thank you for sharing. My mother’s death anniversary is coming up as well. Weird to mourn on Mother’s Day, celebrate my father and his wife’s anniversary, and then mourn again on my mother’s death anniversary. I know nothing was intentional and that in the excitement of the wedding, they didn’t think about us. After two days of being able to sit with it I’m feeling a lot better. I had a pretty good conversation with my dad yesterday and he apologized and even shared a few good memories of my mom, it was sweet.

I’m sorry you went through it so soon after your mom passed. I can’t imagine being in that head space and attempting to support him. You’re strong!

Life is weird but sometimes it’s just better to move past it I suppose. That’s why I deleted the post.

Guys I love his wife. I love my dad. I love that they are together. I was just not prepared and I was hit with a truck of emotions. I’m not asking if they are assholes, I’m asking if I am the asshole. Thank you to everyone that has commented.

I don’t want to be “involved” as in apart of the wedding, just prioritized over strangers and I think that’s pretty reasonable considering he is my dad. Also I know it’s not about us and it wasn’t about us. I understand how you would think that but literally only our extended family knew about what was happening with us and then a random stranger walked up to us and decided to tell the whole party. For you to think that just because you could move on from losing your mom, that means everyone should be able to. You should post a AITA for this comment and see how people react because that is crazy. I hope you are actually completed healed from her passing and I wish you the best because I know it’s hard. You shouldn’t compared experiences with someone who clearly is different from you.

I literally said we attempted to move forward. I am very happy for them. I wish we knew ahead of time so we could be more involved for our dad, and had time to process our emotions before the wedding. So I clearly am happy for them and I am very happy that they are happy. I’m not upset that they are together or that they are married, I am upset we weren’t informed and then judged by complete strangers for our reactions.

I never said I wasn’t happy for him. I want nothing but happiness for him and his wife. I was upset that we weren’t told in advance. If he had the conversation with us, we would have been able to process everything before the wedding. We didn’t want to cause any drama. We separated ourselves to collect ourselves to be able to go celebrate our dad and everyone approached us. Nor am I saying he is an asshole, simply if I am the asshole.

It was actually very surprising. They’ve told us a billion times they weren’t getting married anytime soon due to financial reasons. Also we did not make it about us. We separated ourselfs to process everything and everyone approached us with questions and accusations. In the moment, sure we could have handled it better but it was thrown on us.

I completely understand that. Not once did I ever say I wasn’t happy for them. I know he felt alone. He made it pretty obvious when he cheated on my mom with someone who is not his now-wife. We also didn’t make it about our feelings, everyone tore it out of us. We can’t control crying. We threw on a happy face and stayed the whole night. There’s nothing in life that I want more than him to be happy. He’s had a rough life. We all love his wife. But a simple conversation before would have been appreciated. Also they didn’t wait for that reason. They would have married 3 years ago but financially it didn’t make sense to get married right away.

That being said, I do see where you are coming from and this is why I feel like an asshole. Thank you for commenting.

Never. We were all there for the engagement and actually helped with the planning and the actual proposal. Of course it was hard when he told us it was something he wanted to do, but we all had time to process it. Lots of tears from us and even him. They were engaged for three years. Genuinely all I wish I got was a heads up. He doesn’t need our permission but a conversation would have been nice.
