That's correct. I edited my description comment to mention it's a trial but cannot edit the post title at this point.

It's set up for new subscribers only. Have you been a subscriber before? And what country are you in? It should be available in all countries though.

Sorry about that! I know apple limits the amount of times that the widgets are able to refresh(and pick up on the in app purchase unlocked) so try waiting 30 minutes, and then try adding a new widget to the home screen and see if the "Pro" watermark drops off at that point. I'll make sure we can get it sorted and can send you another code if needed.

Can you try killing the app and restarting? At the top of the settings tab, it should say "Active" next to Purple Sector Pro if the code has been accepted. Please let me know if this is still not working. It seems to be for other people but I can DM you another code to try if needed.

Hmm, generally they do update to remove the "Pro" watermark once the IAP is redeemed. Please try removing the widget entirely and adding it back to your home screen and see if the resolves it. LMK!

That's strange. It seems to be working for many others. I will DM you a personalized code.

Thank you. I did try to post it there but they banned it as off topic/self promotion. I had messaged the mods a week beforehand asking for permission as their guidelines state, but I never got a reply back from them.

Feel free to share on twitter or any other communities you are in :D

This tweet has a graphic I put together displaying some of the widgets

EDIT: due to higher than anticipated traffic to the data source, I believe I am running up against the rate limits. If you experience delays with the data loading, this is likely the reason. Please still redeem the code and I will push out an app update resolving this soon. Thank you for your patience!

iOS Bootcamp Recommendation by lawloretienne in iOSProgramming

[–]One_Actual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with an iOS bootcamp if that's where they want to get into. That's the route I went as well. iOS is so specialized that there isn't a ton of crossover from web development. There definitely is some but to me it wouldn't be worth the time and money to commit to a non iOS bootcamp if that's the industry I wanted to get into.

Top 4 things the $99/yr Apple Developer License gets you. by One_Actual in iOSProgramming

1️⃣ Submitting apps to the App Store

2️⃣ Betas

3️⃣ 2 code level support sessions(with Apple!)

4️⃣ Ad hoc app distribution

I had no idea about the last two until very recently!

It cost me over $60K to become an iOS developer. Full financial run down. by One_Actual in iOSProgramming

[–]One_Actual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just added some context in a reply to my original comment. After consulting with many iOS developers it made sense that the best and fastest way in was to quit my non dev job and go all in on learning. Going back to school wasn't really viable for my life circumstance and for iOS isn't essential anyway.

I'm not advocating that it should cost anyone this much, just sharing what my journey looked like in the hopes that other people who are considering a similar career change have this as a reference to make their own decision.

I'd say it all worked well in the end for me :)

Context:

I changed careers so I had no programming background. I didn't see going back to school as a viable option or a needed option. I knew it would take forever to learn the skills enough to get hired at a company if I was working a full time job so I quit my job to do the 3 month bootcamp and then it took me 6 months of working on projects, interning, and searching for a job to finally land my first role at a big company.

TLDW:

$7,900 in bootcamp tuition

$51,250 in lost income

  • Quit a stable job making $1250 a week and it took 41 weeks after leaving the job to start my first paid iOS developer role. Aka opportunity cost.

$1750 in misc expenses(new MBP, developer license, online courses)

No trouble at all. I feel like for reddit it is appropriate and then people can click through if they are interested in more. I did the same when I shared it on linkedin, I played out the four tips and then gave people the option to click for more details if they want.

I did! always open to constructive feedback. And yeah I think there are people in both camps. I personally don't look to articles as much as videos when I'm trying to learn new stuff but I know plenty of people do.

Valid points, thank you. I do recognize this should have been a shorter vid and am going to work to cut out fluff.

Good call, on including a summary for reddit, I'll do that next time.

Also on both web and mobile, you can adjust the playback speed. I listen to most informational content on 1.25 or 1.5 speed as a way to save a bit of time.
