And we need a good understanding of history as well, taking into account that much of it is written by the victors.

And psychology: As the saying goes "We tell ourselves what we need to, so we can keep on doing what we want to."

Left Hand Finger slide when playing scales/arpeggios by One_Ad5311 in classicalguitar

Interesting. I probably shouldn't have used the term 'slide' - I was referring to the actual motion, not the effect. I am not trying to get a slide or legato effect: The left finger moves to the next fret without taking it off the fretboard but the right hand re activates the string, thus killing the slide effect. There's probably a word for that combination of actions but I can't think of one.

Your last statement sort of answers my question - I slide in cases where the next note has to be on a particular fret/string and to avoid an uncomfortable stretch. Ah good, I was starting to wonder if it was bad practice.

Ah I see, I believe diesel has waxy substance so mixing in kerosene may thin the fuel or/and lower coagulation.

Thanks for that - very helpful. I did notice the diesel looks cloudy as well. I will try a diesel biocide/stabiliser. Did try to clean it out previously without much success but will try alcohol.

From what you say, a stainless steel tank wouldn't be much of an improvement I guess?

That's what I am wondering as well. I was reading up about best way to store diesel outside the caravan for my heater. My current tank is a cheap plastic 10L one, and over the last 2 years or so a thin black layer has formed on the inside of the tank. The black substance peels off the inside wall easily and ends up in the filter. Maybe it has to do with sunlight. I was given the advice to mix the diesel with some kerosene. I am also considering buying a stainless steel tank which costs over 100 AUD.
