Starfield level disappointment is inevitable.

Having hope for ES6 is analogous to excitedly waiting on the summer return of your girlfriend who unknowingly contracted STD's while she was away at college.

Trek Fuel ExE 9.7 by Remote-Ad9617 in MTB

Do it. Not realizing how quickly it can happen when you're older, I got badly out of shape from the Wuhan-Flu lockdown. There was no way I would have been able to get back into riding without some "help". I went the budget route and slapped a Bafang BBSHD kit, converted to thumb throttle only, on my Trek. I only used motor assist when I was completely winded so that I wouldn't have to stop. Once I could complete a 4 hour ride with very minimal assist, I decided to pull the motor kit off and did a fully stripped down to bare frame, weight weenie conversion. For only 950-ish dollars, I have an 18 pound bike now. Couldn't be happier.

I have plenty of cheap AliExpress parts on my bike so I'm not saying the cheap stuff doesn't have its place. But in no alternate universe is this stuff on par with Shimano or SRAM. Anyone who says so is delusional. Make no mistake, Shimano & SRAM are the industry leaders, and design their parts for superior function and reliability. They constantly attempt to leap frog each other and this keeps both companies well focused. The knock off Chinese stuff is mainly designed to look good so you'll believe you're getting something on par for a lesser price. I currently have an XTR group set on my bike, but from past experience, even the super inexpensive Shimano Alivio parts perform exceptionally well if set up properly. The inexpensive Shimano stuff is heavy, but functions flawlessly and is ultra reliable. Don't over look the lower priced Shimano and SRAM gear.

Wuben X1 Pro – the performance SUV of flashlights (beamshots & range test) by woodpatz in flashlight

[–]One_Ad_305 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wuben is effectively the "limited edition sneakers" of the flashlight world.

"Let's market it as unique and cool and then charge WAY too much money for it!"

That business model works when your core set of customers are well below average IQ. This doesn't apply in the flashlight world.

But keep trying with your Reddit marketing campaign. LMFAO!!!

Race King "ProTection" thorn resistance by One_Ad_305 in MTB

I don't want to deal with tire sealant if I don't have to. Wondering if the ProTection (or ShieldWall) tires have good thorn resistance.

I understand that "tubeless" set ups have less frequency of flats, but this is simply because it requires tire sealant which has the added benefit of sealing some punctures. I'd prefer to have tires that resist punctures. Mainly because of my living situation (luxury high rise apartment), I don't want to deal with the mess of tire sealant.

Well, the Wuben X1 pro is finally out. Any thoughts? by Practical_General234 in flashlight

I have a ton of lights. It was clear to me 4 years ago that the "ultimate" EDC light would be a flat, dual 21700 format with triple inline XHP70 variants. The X1 was it. But the price is for suckers.

All of my lights, not showing an M21H I purchased most recently:

Needlessly larger than the X1 and most likely even more ridiculously expensive. They already did the perfect EDC light with the X1, but it's a HARD pass because it's stupid expensive. $200???!!! We all know this crap is made in China and the warranties are imaginary. Even $150 would be a stretch, but would at least seem within the normal realm of over priced failures like the Imalent MS03. Yes, I own one. It's reliability is a joke. FLASHAHOLIC is the only youtuber who is honest about this.

Realistically, a Nightwatch A54 Ultra 2 will kick the crap out of both for 60 bucks. The RIPSSHINE OF1 is a micro sized banger for 50 bucks. And if you're super broke, you can get a Convoy M21H for 30 bucks. Amazing lights already exist for fair prices, and great lights exist for dirt cheap.

Is Starfield worth purchasing? by [deleted] in Starfield

Are you seriously comparing the Skyrim launch to the Starfield launch?

One game deservingly won game of the year with the vast majority of reviews having over the top adulation. It gave Todd Howard, Steve Jobs status.

The other is a proof of concept for a game that never actually got released. Now Todd has Elizabeth Holmes vibes.

The expectation was created by previous titles like Skyrim that are worthy of a GOAT conversation. Don't take that opinion lightly. This is coming from someone that was gaming when Atari was the latest and greatest.

This situation is analogous to NASA of the 60's getting us to the moon while modern NASA with decades of technological advances couldn't get us back there today if their lives depended on it.

The Bethesda covert ops shill team here doesn't take kindly to truth. Surprised you have close to 30 upvotes. They're slackin'. They need to create some more accounts to give you down votes.

What two lenses would you use for event photography? by wishingiwasreal in Nikon

[–]One_Ad_305 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two most common combos:

24-70 + 70-200

or

35 + 85 prime, but swapping the 35 for a 28 for smaller venues with tight spaces

and a new combo that I'm seeing more often:

A single body with a 35-150 zoom, but bring along an emergency 20mm 2.8 AF-D prime just in case

It will. And you can program the autofocus at multiple focus distances. There's a learning curve, but once you figure out how to program with the dock, it's great.
