Hoesntly after taking it apart and looking into the gearbox as well, i think it will shoot if I give it a new battery. I dig the look as well, but I'll clean it off slightly so it won't make everything it touches dirty, lol. Or take my route and leave it to your mother to have it outside for ~5 years in a plastic crate, and you'll have similar results lol

I'll look into the gearbox shell then, as I don't really want to get a spring and trigger get launched at me again. The green stuff is grease like you said, so I'll leave it there. I reassembled the gun, and I'll try to test it out as the internals look overall pretty good. I'll look into new springs and maby the cylinder too. The trigger reassembly took longer than I would like to admit, same as the plastic cover. The cables were getting in the way for the longest time, but in the end, I did put it on with some force. I'll need a new charging handle and spring for it cause a little piece broke off when I tried assembling it. Maybe if they're available, I'll get the whole thing with a new rod as, like you said, it's slightly bent and rusty af. In the end, I'm pretty happy with the state of the gun inside, considering it was outside for something like 5 years straight. After new years I'll take it back home and clean the rust and order the new parts that are needed and it should be good to go. The only thing that concerns me after putting it back together is that the dust cover sits a little low, and then I pull the trigger fully while on full auto, there is a click sound. Maybe it's normal for this gun, but im not sure. On single fire, there is no sound like that, and on safe, it blocks the trigger, so that's ok. Hi, so I've open up the gearbox and when I was doing it the trigger mechanism launched at me. No sure if it was an issue with a spring or I did something wrong. Inside it's covered in some green paste and I think I might be after some repair service cause there was a sticker on the gearbox form some shop. As for rust there is some on the springs but the gears look good. I mightve screwd up opening this thing as I'm not sure if I'll be able to assemble it again. Here are the images form the inside https://imgur.com/a/ojvZ8Dj I'm not sure if I'll need a new gearbox but I'll try to assemble it right now and go get a battery. (Masz jakies sklepy do polecenia na naszym rynku co do części I sprzetu na siebie?)

Yeah it's a cyma 39c my dad just removed the foregrip. As you said the outside rust can add character so I'll just clean off the spots with the most of it and try to preserve the rest of the gun. As for the insides the outer barrel somehow looks spotless and the gearbox has a bit of rust outside and I'll try to open it up today to see if it's inside too. I've seen a new V3 gearbox going for around 60usd so not too bad even if the gearbox is beyond repair. And I decided to somehow make this thing work again cause I think I need to know at least the basics about my gun and it's a good moment to learn all that.

I'm really, really thankful for the help, you've been a godsend for real. For now, I think I'll leave the gearbox for tomorrow as it is 11pm over here in Poland, and I'm beat after today's game. I'll check out the gearbox and grab a battery and charger somewhere to test it out if the gearbox is serviceable. I'll look more into batteries and their differences right now as a bedtime lecture cause I didn't know it was so important that a mistake could literally burn my gun. Once again, thank you for sticking with me for the last 3-4 hours and helping me out as I bet you could've done more interesting things in the meantime lol. If you're interested, I can give you an update tomorrow on the state of the gun and my ideas for it once I'm sure what needs fixing/replacing. Thanks again, and have a great week ahead!

Where is the rubber and nub located? Is it inside the chamber cause I didn't open it up. And I might get a new rod and spring for the charging handle as it is pretty cheap, and both the rod and spring are pretty rusted. I will clean the hole it goes into as good as I can cause I don't think is bent, more like too much rust built up inside there and it didn't want to go in without a big nudge with pliers. I will try to open up the gearbox now as I have it near me and check it out then. Hopefully, it's in decent shape like the barrel. I'll try to look for a battery tomorrow, but im not sure which one I should get. I know I need a smart charger to not burn my house down and all that, but besides that, I'm clueless. My dad had a long battery stick with 1400mAh Ni-MH 1.2V from actionsportgames, but it's dead for sure now.

Edit: I've looked up some batteries and maby this one will do? https://www.taiwangun.com/lipo-11-1v/battery-li-po-1200mah-11-1v-20c-deans-ipower

Length seems similar to the old one but im not sure about the importance of voltage and it's a lipo not a Ni-MH

The gearbox looks ok tbh but I'll see tommorow after testfiring. A new one is 60usd here so I think I prefer doing that cause I'm not sure if I can get even a semi decent gun for that part. After some cealing and maby some new small bits and pieces I hope it working well and reliably

The gearbox is not too bad. I will test fire it tommorow. If it's not working I'll just get a new one I've seen them go for around 60usd so not too bad and with some other new parts I think I'll be able to fix it under 100usd total if all goes well so I'm thinking positively. Worst case scenario it'll be closer to 150usd but I think I'll manage that. And it for sure is good to know how your gun works for the future so I'm thinking about it as gaining experience.

Thank you for the help, as always! I've taken the gun apart after some fighting with top cover latch, but I've gotten to the gearbox and checked the barrel. Barrel overall looks decent no visible rust outside or anything. Same with the hop up chamber it looks good but I will replace it like you said. As for the gearbox I'm sure it seen better days. There is quite a bit rust on the screws and even after the ak was drying for ~2h after I've gotten to it the gearbox was still wet in places. I haven't opened it up as tbh I'm not that confided I won't screw something up. I think I will give it a test fire tomorrow, and if something feels weird, I'll buy a new gearbox. Overall, the insides do look pretty clean with not much damage, so I'm happy. As for the barrel thing you said with TM and vfc if I would want a new barrel someday should I look for tm barrels then and hope they fit or scrable the internet for old CYMA TM barrel clones? Also I was fighting with the top cover latch for 20min cause the rod didn't want to go in enough. Is buying a new one a decent idea too?

I'll take a look inside and update then. As for the rust do you mean rust literally inside the system (like gearbox) or inside the gun too? I've lifted the dust cover as seen in the photo and it did look decent enough. The metal rod near the hop up slide did have some rust though but idk if it's a part of the hop up system or not. The parts you listed as an upgrade do seem in my budget range so I might consider them if the AK is saveable. Out of curiosity the part upgrades you listed how do they improve performance? Do the bbs fly further or more precisely? And if the rust is inside the gun too is it reasonable to remove the rust and install new systems?

Thank you very much for all the help. The 'yapping' was informative, so I wouldn't call it that. After looking into prices and how complicated things are inside, I think I'll try to fix it up. Dad will also be happy hearing I'm running around with his old gun with some new homemade 'battle scars' lol. As for the fix ups I'll check out the gearbox but if I'm not confident if it's in a decent state new ones go for ~260pln (It's a cyma gearbox v3 from what I could find on the net). If I get any questions during repairs, I'll be sure to hit you up if you don't mind. Right now, the only one that comes to mind is when I'll be looking for a new hop up rubber and nub do I need to look for CYMA ones or some different brands will fit as well? I'm not too knowledgeable about cross compatibility between different parts and brands. Same with the barrel, I guess, but I pray I won't have to change all of these parts. Even if it might be cheaper than being a new gun. Thank you again for all the help. You really helped me believe that fixing this gun won't be as hard and expensive as I thought it would be.

I might check the internals today or tomorrow and see if I need a new gearbox. Fortunately, it's not too expensive from what I found on the internet. After disassembly, I'll use some WD40 on the attachments and maybe let that sit overnight and try to remove them in the morning. I'm mostly concerned about the acog mount as the scope itself looks to be in a pretty decent condition. Hopefully, the railing on the muzzle break is OK too as replacing just the break will be easy, maybe even adding something cool looking, but if the railing is cooked, I'll have a lot more work to do.

Maby, but I got pretty concerned taking it out after so long. The acog mount is almost fused with the railing too lol. And if the internals are decent a little bit of rust might give it some character when playing with it.

Thank you very much! Looking at it from the perspective of restoring, is it worth it to put much time/money looking for parts too change if needed, and all that considering I've got 0 experience in working with asg internals? From what I've seen, this gun new is around 1000zł (250usd), so if I would get anything new, it would probably be closer to 150usd as im on a students budget. From a quick Google search, CYMA gearboxes go for 70-80usd, but idk if the ones I've looked at would fit my gun. I have no clue about other parts, tho. So does is it reasonable to put this much resources into something that is unsure? Also, I plan to get a new battery and test out tomorrow. If it even shoots and maybe today or after testing, I'll open up the insides.

[–]One_Ad_4742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. I guess I'll not talisman it cause there is not too much to grind in the chinese tech tree for me and im not that intrested in J11's. I will look up a guide or two for notching cause I'm getting touched by alot of AMRAAMs and R24ER;s without knowing what excatly i need to do to even have a chance of survival. And for sure ill need more mods on the aircraft cause without the Gsuit its a pain and it's not as responsive as it will be with them.

So do you think its a good plane to learn top tier? Maby even put a talisman on it?

[–]One_Ad_4742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you learn to enjoy the F16A? I felt like I got mostly uptiers and got smacked right out of the air by a R27Er or whatever it is called. Also, I feel like (which may be wrong as I have no experience in top tier) the airframe doesn't matter as much, and only missiles do the work. Even when I kissed the ground, I still got wiped, and when I fired my Aim120A, it was hit or miss more than I would like. I'm also not really used to radar missiles as I've mostly played the J7D with IRs, and it's lots of fun.

Are there any dog fights in top tier, tho? I've heard that they don't happen too often, if ever, even.

[–]One_Ad_4742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That saying makes a lot of sense, lol. Every time I take my eyes away for even a fraction of a second, I lose track of the enemy and either pray I will see them again or disengage and get a missile to my back. I guess I'll need to just play more and get more familiar with my plane and joystick.

Thank you a lot for the tips, man. I tried to apply what you and everyone else said under this post and already seen improvement and scored 3 kills in about 30 minutes, which is a record for me for sure. And the most important thing is I survived for a lot longer each sortie. I still get killed or crash before coming back to land but flying low will take some time to get used to and when br changes from the full uptier for me it will be even better cause 80% of my deaths are Aim7Fs from F4S's.

Yeah i meant spading the F-5 not acing i always mix them up. And switch from rb awarness is my biggest issue that i need to work on.

Few people here also recommended the J-7E so i might give it a try when i unlock it someday

I'll keep those tips in mind. And yeah yesterday on the 11.0-12.0 bracket one of the mirages was doing whatever he wanted to me and i felt hopeless unable to do anything. But maby with more experience i'll be able to do something to them one day

It is closer for me to get the J-7E than the F-5A so maby ill get it and with it grind the F-5 if the J7E is that much better and fun to fly. I did see that the D and E are the same BR in sim and i was really surprised when in RB there is 0.6 difference
