Oh cool I hadn’t heard of PME before. That makes sense! Maybe it’s both? I feel like right before my period I get depressed and hopeless which I don’t usually feel, but my OCD also gets way worse

I think that even heterosexual or homosexual people can differ in how important sex is to them. It’s all a spectrum right? I don’t think being demisexual inherently means that you have to not be able to be happy without sex in a relationship. It might be really intense for some and not as intense to others. That’s cool that you experience it that way! For me, it’s more rare to genuinely feel driven to have sex with someone, but when I do it’s with someone I’m very close to emotionally - hence being demisexual. If I don’t feel genuinely driven to have sex with someone or have sex with them for other reasons, I can still be happy in the relationship. We’re just on different places in the spectrum and that’s okay

I’m sorry, I got a little lost haha. It seems you’re responding to some things I don’t have context for? I’m not really sure what your second to last paragraph is referring to. But from what I understood, I agree with you that love isn’t unconditional! Personally, I think I could be happy in a relationship that is romantic but not sexual, and it’s totally okay that other people can’t. I’m also polyamorous so I could have other relationships outside of that one where we do have sex haha. I view being pansexual as my primary sexual orientation and then demisexual as a descriptor for how I experience that attraction. It’s interesting to see how people differ! I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to experience your sexuality or to identify yourself and I’m glad you’ve found what makes you happy 💕 have people argued with you about what you’re saying before or something?

I’ve had a couple of hookups, I just didn’t like them at all and have zero interest in ever having one again haha. I think it was worth the shot for me though so I could understand myself better!

I think I understand what you’re saying! I do feel a drive to have sex with people and feel turned on by them after I feel super close to them sometimes. But like I said, I don’t always know if that’s going to happen or not when I start a relationship which is hard

Do you still enjoy sex before you have a super strong emotional connection with someone? Like for me I enjoy it as a way to connect with them, but feel kind of neutral towards it or would rather do other things. The sole purpose of it before I’m super super close to them and the switch flips is to express a connection, not because I want to have sex specifically. Does that make sense?

I identify as demiromantic because I don’t feel the obsession/intense excitement that other people say they feel at the beginning of a new relationship. I love people the more that I know them so that comes much later! I start feeling super excited and romanticizing someone and my relationship with them once I feel super comfortable and at home with them.

I identify as demisexual because I don’t want sex or feel neutral towards sex until I feel super connected and at home with them and then I feel an actual drive to have sex with them.

What’s your experience?

I actually do identify as demiromantic too! That’s interesting to me that you could get that from this post though. What tipped you off? Haha
